Indic Inc lines up employee benefits, rewards for festive season
rewards and benefits to their employees for the upcoming festive season, which includes a combination of increased earnings, bonuses and incentives, employee discounts, performance based appreciation and gifts, according to a survey by hiring platform Indeed. However, when it comes to certain perks, job seekers and employers are not entirely on the same page, shows the survey conducted among over 1,000 employers and about 2,600 job seekers. While festive rewards and gifts are preferred by 16% of the job seekers, only 9% employers are offering these, revealed the survey conducted by ValuVox between April-June on behalf of Indeed. Similarly, performance-based appreciation is of priority for 14% of job seekers, but only 8% employers feel the same. “This mismatch can likely be attributed to the fact that employers are providing increased earnings and incentives which they believe compensate for additional gifts or merit-based rewards,” according to the survey findings. The survey also shows that employers anticipate an 18% surge in hiring activity for the upcoming festive season. About 69% of employers are looking to hire temporary workers, while 20% are set to hire gig workers, which include freelancers, consultants, and independent contractors to manage the upcoming workload during the festive season.

NASA may have accidentally destroyed life on Mars 50 years ago, claims German scientist
A scientist in Germany has claimed that the US space agency NASA had discovered life on the Mars planet 50 years ago but accidentally destroyed it. Dirk Schulze-Makuch, astrobiology professor and faculty member at the Technical University Berlin said NASA's Viking programme, which started in the mid-1970s, unintentionally destroyed that opportunity. Under the Viking programme, NASA sent two landers to the Martian surface which showed the world the first glimpse of Mars's surface and also performed the biological analysis of its soil and rocks.
