(Reuters) -Bitcoin is back in the headlines, having roared to a new record high, just as many of the world's major central banks are starting to pave the way towards cutting interest rates, but only if inflation behaves.

Investing.com-- Gold prices steadied just below record highs in Asian trade on Monday, with focus turning largely to upcoming U.S. inflation data for more cues on when the Federal Reserve will begin cutting interest rates. 

Ashok Leyland Ltd. traded 0.4 per cent down at Rs 170.4 at 12:13PM (IST) on Monday, even as BSE benchmark Sensex dropped 443.0 points to 73676.39. The stock had closed at Rs 171.1 in the previous session. The stock quoted a 52-week high and 52-week low of Rs 191.45 and Rs 133.1, respectively.

The 30-share BSE Sensex ended 33 points higher or 0.1% to settle at 74119 points. The NSE Nifty gained 19 points or 0.1% to end at 22493 points.

ABSL Mutual Fund launched a thematic fund, providing investors a way to play the emerging ‘manufacturing’ theme. Fast forward nine years and the investors who stayed the course find the thematic fund’s 12.5% return since inception lower than the broader market return for the respective period. Thematic new fund offers (NFOs) make a tantalising proposition—targeted exposure to specific themes. But do these funds truly perform? Statistically, funds like ABSL Manufacturing that didn’t do well form 36% of the thematic NFOs launched in the past 10 years. A higher 64% have done better than the overall market since launch, an ET Wealth study shows. Game of themes The reason for AMCs coming up with more thematic NFOs in recent years has been largely due to the regulatory cap of a single fund per category. However, funds can have any number of unique themes. Between 2014 and 2017, there were only six thematic equity NFOs (actively managed), but in the 2018-23 period, 55 new funds came into the market. Buoyant markets have helped. With equities giving double-digit returns in four of these six years, thematic funds have easily attracted eyeballs.

In the commercial segment, IT hardware sales in the first half of the calendar year are expected to remain flattish at the year-earlier levels of about 2.9 million units which was already comparatively weak, according to data from market tracker firm International Data Corporation (IDC). When compared to the first half of calendar year 2022, the segment might see a decline of 24%, IDC said. Consumer sales might also follow a similar pattern as sales might drop by 17% to 3.4 million units when compared to the first half of 2022, IDC predictions showed.
