The Dow Jones Industrial Average posted its biggest one-day percentage drop in nearly 11 months, after a Labor Department report showed U.S. consumer prices increased above forecasts in January amid a surge in the cost of shelter.

AAP on Tuesday declared that it is willing to cede only one of seven parliamentary seats in Delhi to Congress and announced candidates for two seats in Gujarat and one in Goa, pushing the opposition INDIA bloc to the brink of collapse. AAP said it wants to contest eight of the 26 seats in Gujarat and one of the two seats in Goa in alliance with its INDIA bloc partner Congress. The decision was taken at a meeting of AAP's political affairs committee, led by party convenor Arvind Kejriwal. Showing its displeasure over the long time being taken to hammer out seat-sharing arrangements in different states, AAP said it would be forced to declare candidates for six parliamentary seats in Delhi, leaving one for Congress. The party, however, did not clarify which seats it would contest in Delhi.

GIFTCL) has invited bids to build the first ultra-luxury hotel in the domestic tariff area of GIFT City with at least 300 keys and development rights for at least 500,000 sq. ft. The development tracks the Gujarat government’s recent decision to exempt GIFT City from a 63-year-old liquor prohibition law in the state to attract foreign companies to invest in the city. GIFT City currently has a hotel and a club designated in the five-star segment. However, the proposed development will be the first to cater to the ultra-luxury segment.

U.S. Treasury yields climbed on Tuesday, with the 10-year yield hitting a two-month high, after a reading on inflation came in above estimates, pushing out market expectations for when the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates until later this year. The consumer price index (CPI) increased 0.3% last month after gaining 0.2% in December amid a surge in the cost of shelter, the Labor Department said on Tuesday. In the 12 months through January, the CPI increased 3.1%. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast the CPI would gain 0.2% on the month and 2.9% on a year-on-year basis.
