OKX, a world-leading digital asset exchange, has officially launched its operations in Australia, a year after it established an office in Sydney in May 2023.

Spot trading volumes on centralized crypto exchanges saw a significant surge last month, marking the highest month-on-month increase since early 2021.

The spot trading volume of Coinbase, one of the largest crypto exchanges in the United States, has dropped by more than half, highlighting a shift in interest in crypto trading. 

Genesis Global Trading (GGT), a New York-based subsidiary of Barry Silbert's Digital Currency Group, is set to halt its crypto spot trading services as of September 18. The decision comes directly from the company and is described as a voluntary measure due to unspecified business reasons.

Genesis Global Trading (GGT) will close down its cryptocurrency spot trading service on Sept. 18, according to press reports. GGT is affiliated with the Digital Currency Group (DCG), but it was not affected when the parent company’s crypto lender, Genesis Global Capital, declared bankruptcy in January. 

Crypto exchange Huobi is moving forward with its Hong Kong expansion plans. 

Binance announced the temporary suspension of spot trading on 24 March in a surprise move. However, hope flickered back to life when Changpeng Zhao (CZ) emerged to reassure users about the situation.

The issue lasted for more than two hours, sending cryptocurrency prices down. Binance processed nearly $15 billion in spot trading volume in the last 24 hours, according to CoinGecko.Earlier, the firm's CEO Changpeng Zhao, tweeted: "Initial analysis indicates matching engine encountered a bug on a trailing stop order (a weird one).

In a surprising turn of events, Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange by daily trading volume, has temporarily suspended all online spot trading on its platform.

Mumbai: One of the world’s top global cryptocurrency exchanges, Bitmex, is launching spot trading in India on Tuesday, despite the bloodbath in the crypto market and an unfavourable regulatory environment, a top executive told ET. The spot exchange will allow Indian users to instantly buy, convert, deposit and withdraw multiple cryptocurrencies. «India is one of the most active hubs globally for crypto adoption and not just from a trading perspective, but we are seeing a lot of activity in terms of project development, project rollouts, and actual infrastructural projects within the ecosystem. India is ranked second in the global crypto adoption index. Given its demography and tech capabilities, India is just impossible to ignore,» Jenia Mikhalchenko, vice-president of spot exchange at Bitmex, said during an interview.

Decentralized leveraged trading platforms are growing in popularity but fail to provide an ideal experience for traders. The European Commission said Thursday that it has fined Barclays, UBS Group, HSBC Holdings, Royal Bank of Scotland and Credit Suisse Group a total of €344m ($389.6m) for participating in a foreign-exchange spot trading cartel.
