ISRO is set to welcome the new year with the launch of its first X-Ray Polarimeter Satellite that would offer insights into celestial objects like black holes, onboard a Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle rocket on Monday. Larsen and Toubro was issued the Letter of Acceptance on Saturday for the design and construction of an elevated viaduct including associated works between Heelalige and Rajanukunte of Corridor-4 of the Bengaluru Suburban Rail project, officials said. Increasing focus on Buyouts- Funds committed by private equity investors for control/buyout deals have doubled in 2023 (Rs 77,000 crore) as compared to 2022 (Rs 37,000 cr). There is increased comfort from private equity funds to cut larger cheques for control deals in India, given the opening up of diverse exit avenues such as secondary market sales, strategic sales, and IPO exits among others. (Select large buyouts in 2023 include Manipal Hospitals, HDFC Credila, CARE Hospitals / KIMS Health). b) Emergence of the Healthcare sector: India has seen an increase in investments in the hospitals/healthcare sector (Rs 39,000 crore)in 2023 as compared to Rs 6,500 cr in 2022), with 2023 seeing large investments in Manipal Hospitals, CARE Hospitals, Indira IVF, Maxivision Eye Hospitals among others. Life sciences has become a key investment theme for global funds and these funds are looking to bring global scale and operating expertise to the space.

Kashmiri Pandits who got displaced from the Valley with the advent of separatist militancy, possibly because they were not «such a big electorate» as to invite «political intervention», former Supreme Court judge Sanjay Kishan Kaul has said. Justice Kaul, who was part of the bench which upheld the abrogation of Article 370 in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, and recommended setting up an «impartial truth and reconciliation commission» to probe and report on human rights violations by both state and non-state actors since the 1980s, said people of different communities lived in unity before insurgency shattered the peace and he was at a loss to comprehend how the situation «slowly degenerated». A Kashmiri Pandit himself, Kaul feels, it is time now for the people to move forward, after more than 30 years of unbridled violence. In an interview with PTI on Friday, Justice Kaul spoke about the unanimous verdict of the five-judge constitution bench headed by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud which upheld the Centre's decision to abrogate Article 370 of the Constitution that bestowed special status on Jammu and Kashmir. «It was a unanimous verdict which means all of us must have thought that this is the correct path to follow. Of course, every judgement, especially every important judgement, will generate debates.

JM Financial reported that Fintech NBFCs raised ₹1,818 crore from the bond market in 2023, up from just ₹450 crore in 2022. Clix Capital and Krazybee raised over ₹300 crore, each.

SJVN Ltd has secured Rs 10,000 crore construction finance facility to fund its upcoming renewable energy projects from a group of leading domestic and international lenders. The construction finance facility is a unique and first-of-its-kind transaction undertaken by a PSU entity and Public Sector Banks, a company statement said on Friday. According to the statement, SJVN has secured Rs 10,000 crore (USD 1.2 billion) construction finance facility to fund its upcoming renewable power projects from a group of leading domestic and international lenders.
