Donald Trump has far-reaching implications for global trade and geopolitics. markets Strategy Election President Adani charges to test Trump’s desire to keep India in US orbit
Huawei Technologies Co. for breaching US laws shocked President Xi Jinping’s inner circle and raised questions over whether Donald Trump would intervene in the case. Trump now faces a similar dilemma after US prosecutors charged Gautam Adani — India’s most powerful businessman and a close ally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi — in a $250 million bribery scheme. While Modi’s party called it a private matter, and Adani’s company denied the allegations, the case threatens to roil US-India diplomatic ties. Although Trump didn’t intervene in the Huawei case, which was eventually settled in 2021 after he left office, on its face he’ll have more incentive to make this case go away. Beyond Trump’s personal connection with Modi, the incoming US president has packed his team with China hawks who want to see stronger ties with India to counterbalance Beijing’s power in the region.

markets UPS Citizens Strategy wellness Experts Profiles RBI set to cut rates soon: Which debt mutual fund should you invest in now?
SBI, ICICI Bank and Axis Bank, have hiked their deposit rates. You can earn 7.25% interest on deposits of 1-2 years. Smaller banks, such as the Bandhan Bank, are offering 8%, while NBFCs, such as Sriram Finance, are giving up to 8.9% per annum. Senior citizens can expect 0.5-0.75% higher rates. Sitting in their house in Bengaluru, senior citizens Ranjitha and B. Srikumar are not enthused by the high rates offered on bank deposits. Their pensions put them in the 30% tax bracket, which means the post-tax yield of a 7.75% fixed deposit is barely 5.3%. “We are looking to invest in a debt fund that can give better returns than fixed deposits,” says the retired Air Force officer.

retirement. Vansh has life and health insurance, but they also have a car loan. How do they navigate these challenges? Sonia and Vansh Kumar need to focus on three key areas: budgeting for Sara’s care, revising their financial plan, and estate planning for her future. They must account for all the expenses related to Sara’s disability, including therapies, tutoring, transportation, and nursing care. Since therapies are costly, they should fit these into their monthly budget and start a ‘special needs fund’ for her future care. Avoiding excessive debt is crucial as it could derail their financial stability. The Kumars should review their life and health insurance coverage and increase the cover size. Both parents must have life insurance to fund Sara’s caregiving needs in their absence. Instead of focusing only on their retirement, they should prioritise building a childcare corpus for Sara. Additionally, they should explore health insurance and medicare options for individuals with special needs to reduce future medical expenses.

markets Digital Strategy Experts PAM show Maharashtra Assembly Polls: Narrow margins highlight close contests
Maharashtra assembly polls were won by a margin of 10,000 or less, with 33 seats having been won by 5,000 or less votes. The opposition tally could have been more disastrous as the numbers show. An analysis of the results show that the 'Ladki Bahin' scheme, the reverse caste polarisation due to the MVA overplaying the Maratha card and the work done by the Sangh led to increased voting for the Mahayuti. The BJP has 17 candidates who won by a margin of 10,000 votes and less. Of these, 10 won by a margin of 5,000 votes and less. In these seats, the BJP benefited due to the votes being divided between the opposition parties.
