IIM Ahmedabad has wrapped up the summer placement process for the MBA Class of 2026 of the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in Management, with 38% of students getting placed in the consulting sector, followed by 22% in banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), 11% in consumer goods and durables and 7% in conglomerates, according to a statement issued by the institute on Monday. Firms from multiple domains participated across the three clusters in Summer Placements, with all students being placed across more than 25 cohorts of firms that visited. Despite challenging market conditions, the institute saw a rise in recruiting firms, and roles being offered. 51 new companies participated in the 2024 summer placements, up from 12 in 2023. In Cluster-1, in the Transformation & Operations Consulting cohort Accenture Strategy was the largest recruiter with Accenture Strategy’s India Market Unit extending 6 offers and Accenture Strategy Global Network making 33 offers followed by Vector Consulting Group with 7 offers. In the Management Consulting Cohort, Boston Consulting Group (22), McKinsey & Company (15), Bain & Company (14) were the top recruiters. In the Investment Banking & Markets Cohort, Goldman Sachs (11) and HSBC (India and Hong Kong) (6) were the top recruiters. EY-Parthenon India (8) led the charge in the Advisory Consulting Cohort. The Private Equity/Venture Capital Cohort was led by WinZO Fund (6) and White Oak Capital (3).

Thyssenkrupp Steel Europe (TKSE) plans to reduce its workforce by 11,000 people or roughly 40%, the company said on Monday, the latest major restructuring to be announced by a German industrial giant. Microfinance Institutions Network (MFIN), one of the two self-regulatory organisations for the sector, has decided to implement a stricter set of guardrails for its members to help them overcome the severe asset quality stress that they are subjected to at present. The new norms, when implemented, are expected to squeeze the quantum of credit delivery to customers at the bottom of the income pyramid and reduce their over-indebtedness, which has been at the heart of the present sectoral crisis. MFIN has requested its members to stop lending to delinquent customers who have overdue loans for more than 60 days with an outstanding amount more than Rs 3000. The existing industry norm was not lending to a client with overdue for more than 90 days with more than Rs 3000. If a loan is not serviced for 90 days, it is classified as non-performing.

Revanth Reddy on Monday said the state government will not accept the Rs 100 crore donation announced by Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani for the Young India Skill University being set up in the state. The decision was taken since Adani's announcement gave rise to «unnecessary discussions» that it may appear favouring the state government or the CM, if the donation was accepted, he said while addressing a press conference. He said so far the Telangana government has not accepted a single rupee into its account from any organisation, including Adani Group.

money laundering case against a website that allegedly indulged in online betting on 2023 Lok Sabha election results apart from an illegal broadcast of IPL cricket matches, the agency said on Monday. A provisional order under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) was issued last week (November 22) to attach demat account holdings and immovable assets like land plots, flats and commercial warehouses located at Ajmer (Rajasthan), Kutch (Gujarat), Daman, Thane and Mumbai (Maharashtra) in the case against the portal named Fairplay, it said in a statement. The central agency said Fairplay was involved in «illegal broadcasting of cricket/IPL matches and various online betting activities including results of Lok Sabha Elections 2024.» The total value of these assets is Rs 219.66 crore, the ED said.

TotalEnergies SE on Monday said it will make no new financial contribution as part of its investments in Adani group companies till the Indian firm's founder is cleared of bribery charges. The energy giant said it was not aware of the investigation into the alleged corruption. TotalEnergies is one of the biggest foreign investors in billionaire Gautam Adani's business empire and had previously taken stakes in the group's renewable energy venture Adani Green Energy Ltd (AEGL) and city gas unit Adani Total Gas Ltd (ATGL). In a statement, the French firm said it learnt of US authorities indicting Gautam Adani and two other executives for allegedly paying USD 265 million bribes to Indian officials to secure solar power supply contracts for AEGL.
