HD Kumaraswamy's wife Anita Kumaraswamy on Monday said her son Nikhil Kumaraswamy faced defeat only in the elections, but his humanity and compassion remain undefeated.
In the high-profile contest in Channapatna bypoll, Kumaraswamy Jr, who contested as NDA candidate, lost to Congress candidate CP Yogeshwar by over 26,000 votes.
In an emotional social media post, the union minister's wife, a former lawmaker herself, said she had accepted her son' s defeat. «In an electoral system, victories and defeats are part of the process. For someone to win, another must inevitably lose. However, there are numerous reasons behind any loss, and it is not my intention to discuss those reasons here.»
«In politics, be it for me, my husband, or my revered father-in-law (ex-PM HD Deve Gowda), victories and defeats are nothing new. We have always accepted both with equanimity. We have neither celebrated victories excessively nor been disheartened by defeats. We have never resorted to criticizing others out of frustration over a loss. The same applies to my son as well.»
«I do not need to tell the people of this state much about my son. He is a good son, a loving husband, and a devoted father. Before entering politics, he was an accomplished actor. My husband and I are proud to have such a wonderful son,» she said.
