Citi CEO Racing Strategy Vodafone voice No plans to launch locked feature phone: Airtel CEO Gopal Vittal
Bharti Airtel has no plans to launch a locked feature phone device like the Jio Bharat device by competitor Reliance Jio last month, chief executive Gopal Vittal said, adding that the telco does not see a significant impact on its 2G user base. The country’s second largest telco said the contribution of the feature phone market to its overall revenue is 18%, and Airtel’s focus is to drive premiumisation by upgrading these users to 4G. Speaking at the carrier’s first quarter earnings call Friday, Vittal said that the telco was not in race with rival Reliance Jio for 5G coverage, and is just focusing on quality services. “We will not be launching any such device. Our feature phone user is on (the) 2G network, and our focus will be on upgrading them to a smartphone,” Vittal said, addressing queries on the impact of the Jio Bharat launch. All Jio's customers are 4G network ones and the new feature phone launch, much like the JioPhone in 2016, is seen as a strategy to tap into basic phone users yet to upgrade to 4G, analysts said.

UPS Strategy film Ballard star audience ‘Sound of Freedom’: Anti-Child trafficking film’s investor arrested for child kidnapping after box office triumph
Sound of Freedom," which highlights child trafficking, has triumphed at the box office. Yet, an investor, Fabian Marta, involved in the film's funding, now faces child kidnapping charges. Directed by Alejandro Monteverde, the movie stars Jim Caviezel as Tim Ballard, a former agent disrupting child sex trafficking in South America. After «Sound of Freedom» achieved cinematic success, Newsweek revealed investor Marta's arrest for child kidnapping, which is a felony. Marta's name appeared in the credits as a contributor to bringing the film to theaters. Arrested on July 23, he could serve up to 10 years in prison if convicted. «Sound of Freedom» from Angel Studios has outshined other independent releases, amassing over $155 million from a $14.5 million budget. Despite lukewarm reviews and criticism for inaccuracy, strong audience backing propelled its success. The film employed a unique marketing approach, rallying conservative and religious groups against child trafficking. Caviezel's involvement, along with the «Pay It Forward» campaign by Angel Studios, boosted its reach. In the campaign, the backers were urged to donate money for the film's success. However, some screenings saw low attendance despite reported «sold out» status due to this strategy.

Citi Extreme Telegram Strategy country social Prison Kremlin critic Navalny convicted of extremism and sentenced to 19 years in prison
Alexei Navalny on charges of extremism and sentenced him to 19 years in prison Friday. Navalny is already serving a nine-year term on a variety of charges that he says were politically motivated. The new charges related to the activities of Navalny's anti-corruption foundation and statements by his top associates. It was his fifth criminal conviction and the third and longest prison term handed to him, all of which his supporters see as a deliberate Kremlin strategy to silence its most ardent opponent. It wasn't immediately clear whether he would serve this new term concurrently with his current sentence on charges of fraud and contempt of court. The prosecution had demanded a 20-year prison sentence, and the politician himself said beforehand that he expected to receive a lengthy term. Navalny was also sentenced in 2021 to two and a half years in prison for a parole violation. The extremism trial took place behind closed doors in the penal colony east of Moscow where he is imprisoned. Navalny appeared in the courtroom Friday afternoon, wearing prison garb and looking gaunt, but with a defiant smile on his face. As the judge read out the verdict, the politician stood alongside his lawyers and his co-defendant with his arms crossed, listening with a serious expression on his face.
