Trent Ltd’s impressive run continued during the quarter ended March (Q4FY24), keeping investor sentiment upbeat about the Tata Group apparel retailer. A striking parameter in fourth-quarter financials, apart from its stellar revenue growth, is its gross margin, which expanded by 449 basis points, or 4.49 percentage points, year-on-year to 45.3%. In the third quarter, Trent’s gross margin had improved by 57 basis points to 46% after having contracted for several quarters in a row.

UltraTech Cement: As per the brokerage, the expansion in infrastructure projects is fueling demand for cement, boosting UltraTech's revenue. The country’s largest cement manufacturer reported strong earnings for the January-March quarter as its consolidated net profit rose 36 percent to ₹2,258 crore from ₹1,666 crore year-on-year (YoY), beating estimates, led by a decline in fuel costs and double-digit volume growth. The company’s consolidated revenue from operations in Q4FY24 increased 9.4 percent YoY to ₹20,419 crore.

YES Bank on Monday jumped up to 9% to day's high at Rs 28.50 on BSE after reporting a 123% year-on-year (YoY) surge in its March quarter profit to Rs 452 crore. The rise in PAT is attributed to income tax refunds (including interest on refund of Rs 118 crore) aggregating to the tune of Rs 247 crore received during the quarter.

Yemen's Houthis have struck again, with reports emerging of an oil tanker damaged and a US drone shot down amid escalating tensions over Israel's offensive in Gaza, Al Jazeera reported. In his latest televised address, the Houthis' military spokesman, Yahya Saree, claimed responsibility for targeting the «British oil ship Andromeda Star» in the Red Sea with naval missiles. The vessel sustained minor damage, according to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), but is continuing its journey unimpeded. There were no injuries reported among the maritime military coalition deployed in the area to counter such attacks.

Hindustan Unilever managing director Rohit Jawa said he is neither satisfied with the company's volume growth nor has the company lost its pricing power as the consumer bellwether shifts focus on investing disproportionately on bigger and more premium brands. «We don't want volume to be just 2% and want to see it grow — that is our focus. We are not going to wait for the macros to improve, but we'll go where the growth is and work actively towards that,» Jawa told ET, adding that tailwinds including improving macros and agri-economy will benefit HUL. «But in meantime, we are not waiting, we are going to do what we can do. That will only make us stronger because we are chasing more volume and more mix by going more and more into high-growth spaces, channels, and formats and putting more funds and people there.» In March quarter, HUL reported a 6% drop in net profit while revenue remained unchanged.
