Zypp Electric lays off 10% of workforce amid profitability push
Zypp Electric has reduced its workforce by around 10% over the past two months as it works toward profitability ahead of a potential public listing. In January, the company had around 1,300 employees, which has now come down to around 1,180-1,190, according to a statement from the company. “Basically, this was not a layoff. We conducted an appraisal exercise in February, during which we looked at some rationalisation of non-performers to drive efficiency. This is part of a sustainable, profitable growth plan. As you build a business, you keep looking at its structure, and wherever some rationalisation is needed to enhance profitability and growth, you make those adjustments. That is what we continue to do,” he said.

Ministry of Labour & Employment launches India's social protection data drive
This increase acknowledges existing central social protection schemes that had not been considered earlier. India has made significant strides in enhancing its social protection coverage through a comprehensive data-pooling exercise led by the Ministry in collaboration with ILO. By utilising encrypted Aadhaar as a unique identifier across 34 major central schemes, such as MGNREGA, EPFO, ESIC, APY, and PM-POSHAN, over 200 crore records were processed to identify unique beneficiaries. According to the release, this exercise revealed that 65% of India's population (92 crore people) is covered by at least one social protection benefit (cash and in-kind both), with 48.8% receiving cash benefits.

Need for institutional reforms, improved workplace facilities for women in security forces: RS MP
challenges faced by women in security forces. Raising the issue during the Zero Hour in the Rajya Sabha, the NCP-SCP member recalled that after the tragic stampede at the New Delhi railway station on February 15, a photo went viral, showing a woman RPF constable patrolling the station with her one-year-old child strapped to her chest. «While glorified by the RPF as a symbol of Nari Shakti, I believe that the photo actually highlights the systemic challenges faced by women personnel in insecurity forces and the failure of the system to provide basic support to working mothers,» she said. Highlighting that women in security forces already face significant challenges, Khan said the nature of security work directly clashes with the consistent care that young children need. «What is needed is toilets, creches, baby care or breastfeeding rooms everywhere so that women can effectively manage both their professional and maternal responsibilities,» she said. The leader also pointed out that the government's goal of increasing female representation in security forces, which currently stands at a mere 4.4 per cent in central armed police forces, must be supported by sustainable policies.

2 top stock recommendations from Vinay Rajani
«I feel that overall trend is quite bullish. Yesterday we saw that Nifty took out the resistance of 100 and 200 days’ exponential moving average which was placed at 23,400. Now it is expected that the previous resistance will act as a support now. So, 23,400 is a strong base for the market. In case of correction, I believe that Nifty should find support there and bounce back again,» says Vinay Rajani, HDFC Securities. What is the outlook for the markets because till yesterday we had seen six consecutive days of gains. Do you believe that that is all that was there to this up-cycle rally that we have seen or do you believe that the bears are going to once again take charge and that was the end of the rally and now we are once again looking to continue the kind of correction that we were seeing until two weeks ago. Vinay Rajani: So, I do not expect this market to reverse on the downside. There could be a minor profit booking or running correction. But the way it has surpassed the resistances, the way it has behaved in this recent rally, we have seen almost 8% rise, 1900 points rise in the Nifty while Bank Nifty has risen more than 9% and Smallcap Index has risen more than 15%. So, this has been fairly strong rally after a long time. As Ansh mentioned that the RSI of the Nifty reached to 71, that has happened for the first time after September 2024 when Nifty was at all-time high.

Map to boost women workforce this week
female labour force participation in India is expected to submit its report this week, laying out a blueprint for the government and the private sector to hire more women. The roadmap will have multi-dimensional recommendations focussing on targeted interventions to incentivise hiring of women, enable creation of adequate support infrastructure, enhance flexible work policies and put greater emphasis on skilling of women to prepare them for high-skill jobs, a senior government official told ET. The government intends to enhance female labour force participation in the country to 70% by 2047 as against 41.7% in 2023-24. «Achieving the 70% workforce participation target by 2047 will require sustained efforts across multiple dimensions, such as strengthening childcare support, enhancing flexible work policies… and encouraging private sector diversity hiring through policy nudges,» the official said.
