markets UPS Sustainability wellness show travelers rights Varun Goel on 3 themes one can invest in this market
Varun Goel, Senior Fund Manager, Mirae Asset Investment Managers, says the lending space definitely looks attractive, both banks and NBFCs. Secondly, export-oriented sectors, be it IT and pharma, should do well. There has been a significant depreciation in the rupee, which will definitely boost the margins of a lot of these exporting companies. Low-ticket discretionary items in India should also show a good bounce back as the benefit of tax cuts start showing the impact. So, there are a lot of sectors which should see good earnings growth coming back in FY26 and they are selectively participating in those spaces. How are you assessing the market construct right now with so many moving parts at play? The US equity market correction has just begun. We are seeing a reversal in the dollar as well, which typically has never been the case because in a risk of a scenario, you actually see the dollar hold up. But that is not really the case right now and of course, emerging markets are a bit of a divided construct as well, if you will. Varun Goel: As far as Indian markets are concerned, a cyclical slowdown has been playing out for the last six to nine months and it appears that growth is incrementally going to get better.

safari slang for off-roading—helping wildlife enthusiasts spot everything from lions to pangolins. There are fleets of hot air balloons, canoes and pontoon boats, too, all offering different vantages of the continent’s vast biodiversity. But there’s only one solar-powered cable car system meant to get you eye-to-eye with giraffes or hovering above baobab branches. When it opens in May, the six-seat Solfari gondola will be a new claim to fame for the Unesco-designated Vhembe Biosphere Reserve, in South Africa’s little-visited Limpopo province. The amenity will be exclusive to guests of a new luxury lodge there, the six-suite, solar-powered Few & Far Luvhondo, where rates start at $1,800 per person per night. This aerial amenity is the invention of Jacob Dusek, who with wife Sarah Dusek founded the American glamping company Under Canvas. After selling the company to KSL Capital Partners for more than $100 million in 2018, the pair moved to Cape Town and launched a venture capital firm to invest in female-run African companies. By fall 2019 the firm was smoothly up and running, and the pair yearned to return to their nature-tourism roots in their newly adopted homeland.

markets UPS Analysis Sustainability wellness Trade rights What could trigger a bounce-back in Reliance stock from a 52-week low? Mayuresh Joshi explains
Mayuresh Joshi, Head Equity, Marketsmith India, says three triggers could lift Reliance out of a 52-week low. One, any de-merger news of either the telecom or the retail operations might act as a trigger for the stock. Second, the Street would like to see if the telecom ARPU increases can be sustained going forward. That will create a huge leverage in the individual telecom balance sheet, as well as retail. The maturity of Reliance Retail stores with consumption expected to make a big comeback, after the tax cuts starting from the first half of the next financial year, can be a huge boost for the retail operations. Third, both in terms of the oil to petchem business and some hope of Chinese recovery in terms of downstream product prices, might prop up the overall ROEs provided equity levels stay at manageable levels. These two-three things might work in favour of Reliance over the medium term. What is your current take on the chemical pack because that is one of the export-related plays and what has been happening in Europe, give us some sense that what are you picking up within the chemical basket as well as anything in particular that is looking interesting to you right now? Mayuresh Joshi: Two things, there is one part of the chemical basket which is highly commoditised including players in the soda ash space, for example, where China has a huge dominance and the other spaces which in reality belongs to the specialty chemical space as well where there are niche players and where the expectations in terms of core applications are limited to those niche players.

markets Manufacturing economy Sustainability Trade country India's thermal coal imports fall for sixth straight month in February
coal-fired power generation grew at a muted pace on the back of a slowdown in manufacturing activity. This is the longest such streak since February 2022, when imports declined for eight consecutive months. Manufacturing activity in the world's fastest growing major economy slowed to its weakest pace in over a year, stifling appetite for seaborne coal in the country and adding to pressure on declining on global thermal coal prices.
