Hindenburg Research's second attack on the Adani Group in which it targeted Sebi chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch has failed to make much impact on the markets. Hindenburg has claimed that she and her husband had stakes in offshore entities linked to the Adani family. Unlike its first report against the Adani Group in January last year, this one has failed to have intended impact so far. Adani stocks did not suffer the kind of rout they did in the wake of last year's report. Analysts have dismissed the report as «sensationalism» and say that it will not have much impact on stock prices.«It appears that this “revelation” is unlikely to impact the market meaningfully. The buy on-dips strategy which has been working well in this bull run is likely to work again,» said Dr. V K Vijayakumar of Geojit Financial Services. However, Hindenburg has doubled down on its claims and responded to Sebi chief's statement that accused the short-seller of attempting a «character assassination». Even though Indian markets as well as analysts have discounted the latest Hindenburg report and the short-seller has itself come under fire after Sebi's show-cause notice to it in June, short-seller attacks constitute a high risk for Indian companies.

Honasa Consumer fell over 6% to Rs 444 in Monday's trade on the BSE, despite the company reporting a 63% year-on-year (YoY) increase in consolidated net profit for the June quarter of FY25, rising to Rs 40 crore from Rs 24 crore in the same quarter last year. The company's revenue from operations for the June quarter surged 19% year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 554 crore, up from Rs 466 crore in the same period last year.

Sun TV Network on Monday fell 8% to its day’s low of Rs 837.45 on BSE after the company reported a 5% and 3% year-on-year (YoY) decline in its profit after tax (PAT) and revenue from operations respectively for the June quarter. The PAT stood at Rs 559.77 crore for Q1FY25 while the revenue from operations was reported at Rs 1312.40 crore against Rs 1349.22 crore reported in the year-ago period.

On Friday, gold and silver settled on a mixed note in the domestic and international markets. Gold October futures contract settled at Rs 69,895 per 10 grams with a gain of 0.27% while silver September futures contract settled at Rs 80,543 per kilogram with a loss of 0.09%.

Local dogs, probably lusting after the sausages themselves, raised an alarm and the owner trapped the two thieves in the smoking room. Did the thieves eat the sausages as they waited for arrest? Food theft is one of the oldest crimes. In Christopher J Garcia’s entertaining book Food & Crime, he writes that the oldest legal texts, like the Codes of Ur-Nammu and Hammurabi include food related proscriptions. He also notes it is one of the broadest crimes: “It starts with piddly little pilfering, such as walking off with a pack of gum from the checkout line, then continues through to the highjacking of entire convoys of shellfish.” Garcia suggests that food theft works on CRAVED principles: “Concealable, Removable, Available, Valuable, Enjoyable and Disposable.” Cheese fits most of these parameters. Reacting to the Hindenburg report, Samajwadi Party spokesperson Ghanshyam Tiwari on Sunday lashed out at the Modi government and said that the tenure of PM Modi will be known for 'Adani-waad'. «The whole world witnessed a different session with different ideologies but the term of PM Modi will be known as 'Adani-waad'. In this Adani-waad, they captured the whole economic system of India in such a way that Gautam Ad(Adani Group) could benefit, it looks like this is the only motive of PM Modi,» he said.
