Budget 2024: Five interventions we need to speed up formal and non-farm jobs
₹45 trillion (if fiscal deficits could make countries rich, then no country would be poor), reversing the shift from revenue spending to capital expenditure (improving productivity requires allocating even more than last year’s high of ₹10 trillion), or crowding out defence and police spending (about ₹8 trillion) with welfarism. The next budget should pray to the one god of formal non-farm jobs with five non-fiscal interventions that will raise the productivity of formal, non-farm employers.

No rush for US Fed to cut rates, IMF's chief economist says
inflation data is allowing the Federal Reserve to begin a «very reasonable» shift toward easing rates, but a still-strong U.S. labor market means that there's no rush to make decisions, International Monetary Fund chief economist Pierre-Olivier Gourinchas told Reuters. Gourinchas said in an interview accompanying the release of new IMF growth forecasts on Tuesday it is better for the Fed to wait a bit longer to ensure there are no further upside surprises on inflation like those in the first quarter that delayed expected rate cuts to later this year. «Given the good news on inflation, it's very natural that the Federal Reserve is now starting to look at what's happening in the labor market and wanting to make sure that they don't overdo it» with tight monetary policy, Gourinchas said.

Fed could cut rates by 25 bps in July, another 50 bps to follow in September: Moody’s
Moody’s expects the Federal Reserve to begin policy easing with a 25 basis points (bps) cut as early as in the 30-31 July meet. “The CPI data confirms our view that the hotter-than-expected inflation prints in the first quarter were from one-time price adjustments at the start of the year. The rapidity with which the labour market has cooled suggests that the drag from tight monetary policy is growing. If the Federal Open Market Committee decides to hold the federal funds rate at the current 5.25-5.50% in the July meeting, the labour market will likely weaken further, raising the chance of a larger 50 bps cut in September,” said Madhavi Bokil, Senior Vice President at Moody’s Ratings.

Cong gave OBC quota to Muslims in Karnataka, BJP won't allow it in Haryana: Amit Shah
Amit Shah on Tuesday accused the Congress of being anti-backward classes and said if the party comes to power in Haryana, it will snatch the reservation for them and give it to Muslims. Addressing a 'Backward Classes Samman Sammelan' here, Shah referred to the Kaka Kalekar Commission formed in the 1950s to provide reservation to Other Backward Classes (OBCs) and said the Congress did not implement its recommendations for years. «In 1980, (the then prime minister) Indira Gandhi put the Mandal Commission in cold storage. In 1990, when it was accepted, Rajiv Gandhi gave a two-and-a-half-hour speech and opposed OBC reservation,» the Union minister said. «In Karnataka, the Congress snatched reservation for backward classes and gave it to Muslims. The same will happen here if they come (to power) here,» Shah said.

2 top stocks recommendations from Vishal Malkan
«Now it is high time and looking at the patterns and volumes, it looks like there can be further upside to all this realty and infra stocks even considering the budget is on the next week,» says Vishal Malkan, malkansview.com. Let us start with your view coming in just on the overall benchmark indices as well as in terms of if you would look at the Nifty Bank also what is it that we are watching out here? Vishal Malkan: I think Nifty and Bank Nifty are sustaining above the resistance levels which were there for 24,500 and 52,400 for both respectively. That means there is an undertone which is very strong, though the indices are not going in a big way, but we have sector performance and stock specific movement are great, so we should focus on that.
