Black Friday sales had all the spotlight in the US as consumers used to wait throughout for these sales but after Amazon Prime Day sales stepped in during the year 2015, and was observed in just six countries initially, the focus of online shopping sales somehow shifted entirely to Amazon.
After 2015, it became the custom for Amazon to host a one-day sale that would see some amazing unheard discounts on various kinds of products it used to offer. Such was the craze of the Prime Day sales, that it has currently expanded to 20 countries now with many other retailers holding their own sales events in the month of July.
In the year 2018, the demand of the sales were so high that the company's servers crashed for several hours and online shoppers had to hold their breath and waited for the servers to restore. However, according to Amazon officials then, the impact of this server crash was barely minimal as the volume of orders were just so high.
Amazon Prime Day 2024 is being celebrated this year on July 16 and July 17, having already begun with some of its flagship Lightning deals and discounts. Amazon just does not target sales and purchases during this period. It also banks on Prime membership subscription as avid shoppers will have to subscribe to their platform to avail these discounts.
However, current and previous reports suggest that this is the third consecutive year that Amazon's growth
