Andy Macdonald was placed 18th in the list of 22 participants and scored 77.66 in the heat at the men's skateboarding at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He was eliminated, but the crowd there cheered him and screamed as he performed a backflip to finish his work. He received a standing ovation. The British-American who competed for Great Britain in Paris is 51 years old, some of his competitors were 30 years younger than him. Olympics.com has said that Macdonald is the oldest participant in the men's skateboarding event at the Summer Olympic Games.
Talking to the AP, he said that he did that for the crowd and it was just about getting to experience and represent skateboarding. He added that he was trying to represent like, 'Hey, this is fun no matter what age you are.' This is like the coolest, funniest, most inclusive thing that you can do."

Now considered a veteran in skateboarding, Macdonald launched his professional career in 1994 and won 23 X Games gold medals in vert skating. He told AP that he was particularly happy to compete at Paris as it is his second Olympics and he did so in front of her mother, who had never seen him competing at any game in the 30 years of his career.
