According to a recent announcement, about $4.7 trillion in payments processed by the Treasury Department were missing a critical tracking code, rendering them almost impossible to trace, reported New York Post.
DOGE posted on X “In the Federal Government, the TAS field was optional for ~$4.7 Trillion in payments and was often left blank, making traceability almost impossible,” as per New York Post.
The missing tracking code is referred to as the Treasury Account Symbol (TAS), which is generally utilized to associate payments with individual budget line items.
