While others try out 4-day workweeks, Greece becomes first EU country to introduce a six-day one
Greece has introduced a new law allowing certain private-sector workers to enforce a six-day workweek. Effective July 1, this measure aims to support the country's aging workforce and provide additional income for workers, while ensuring respect for workers' rights. The law targets specific industrial and manufacturing sectors, particularly businesses operating continuous shifts 24/7, and will be applied only in exceptional circumstances, such as an unexpectedly increased workload. Labor unions, advocating for better working conditions, have strongly opposed the move, sparking heated debates and protests. Greece already has the longest average workweek in the European Union, and it remains uncertain whether this extension will enhance productivity.

ET Mutual Funds Explains: Want to know the future value of your financial goals? Use this formula
financial goals and investing to achieve them. However, many investors struggle with calculating the future value of their goals. Instead of employing a precise calculation, they often choose arbitrary large figures like Rs 50 lakh or Rs 1 crore, assuming these amounts will suffice. What seems like a big number today may not hold its value in the future due to inflation, making precise calculations using inflation vital in planning for financial goals. Many investors just pick a random number. Many investors pick up big numbers, usually Rs 50 lakh or Rs 1 crore which they think will suffice for their future. Inflation significantly reduces the purchasing power of money over time, so the amount that appears substantial now might not be enough in the coming years. The value of any investment does not remain the same always. It either decreases or increases due to interest rate, inflation/deflation which increases/ decreases the value of money. The impact of annual inflation erodes the purchasing power of money significantly with each passing year. Investors need to account for the effects of inflation on their future financial goals. To do this, they first need to calculate how much a particular goal costs today. For instance, if a child’s higher education costs Rs 5 lakh today, the investor needs to determine how much time is left until they need to pay for the education. If the child is expected to go to college in 15 years, they need to calculate how much that same education will cost in 15 years, taking inflation into account. This is known as calculating the future value of the goal.

JM Financial cuts Zomato's target price by 8% on ESOP costs
Zomato’s ESOP costs are no longer a one-off after the approval of the new policy, domestic brokerage firm JM Financial reduced the company's target price to Rs 230 from an earlier Rs 250. 2 top stock recommendations from Rajesh Palviya for next week
«So, the way broader market is participating, sectorial rotation is happening, now the IT is on the front seat for this rally, so the way market is doing the sector rotation that is clearly giving us confidence that ahead of budget maybe we can see further higher level towards 25,000 level also,» says Rajesh Palviya, Axis Securities. Nifty at 24,500, over the beginning of the week these levels seemed difficult to reach but now see where we have closed for the week. So, first question to you is do you think this rally that we have seen is sustainable going before the budget, do you think we could see these kind of moves leading all the way to the budget and second I also want to get your view on what Nifty IT is doing because it is at a four-month high this week, so what are your levels that you are watching out for both Nifty as well as Nifty IT. Rajesh Palviya: Yes, we believe that this momentum can extend further towards the budget, the way short covering action has been there in most of the call writers for 24,500, 24,550, even 24,600 strike so that is clearly showing us that this rally can extend further and possibly we may see a target towards 24,800 to 25,000 also ahead of budget because whatever minor dip which we have witnessed in this week that was again the fresh buying action has been there in the market and only we have seen a 200 point kind of dip in the market and then again now we are back to all-time high trajectory for the Nifty.

Navigating climate risks: India's financial sector gears up for transparency with RBI's draftGuidelines
RBI. To achieve India’s ambitious growth objectives and fulfil India’s Nationally Determined Contributions, green finance is imperative. Climate risk disclosure frameworks work in complement with policymaking to support India’s net-zero target and are also pivotal in guiding companies and investors to navigate the opportunities and risks posed by climate change. The introduction of the disclosure framework is a laudable first step, signalling a concerted effort towards addressing climate risks and fostering climate action within the financial sector. These disclosures are poised to accelerate the evolution of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations in financial markets. Modelled on global standards like the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), they promise interoperability of data (especially relevant for companies operating globally) and reduce operational burdens for banks. Moreover, they foster a level playing field not only for comparison within the domestic financial system but also internationally.
