Companies face a new reality of Trump tariff chaos
global trade it pioneered and furthered over several decades. Trump says the levies will bring jobs back to the United States — but executives in the immediate aftermath were focused on possibly raising prices, reducing shipments to the world's largest economy, or just cutting back investment activity outright. «This is how you sabotage the world's economic engine while claiming to supercharge it,» said Nigel Green, CEO of global financial advisory deVere Group. «The reality is stark: these tariffs will push prices higher on thousands of everyday goods — from phones to food — and that will fuel inflation at a time when it is already uncomfortably persistent.» Trump sees tariffs as a way of protecting the domestic economy from unfair global competition and a bargaining chip for better terms for the U.S.

Donald Trump confirms 25% auto tariffs on all foreign made automobiles
Beginning April 3, the US would levy a 25% tariff on fully assembled cars from India. By May 3, similar tariffs were expected on auto parts, raising concerns in India’s auto sector, which is one of the country’s largest exporters to the US. Announced during the “Make America Wealthy Again” event, the tariffs were part of Trump’s broader "Fair and Reciprocal Plan," under which the US would impose tariffs equivalent to those levied by other nations on US goods. On March 26, Trump officially announced the imposition of 25% tariffs on foreign-made cars and auto parts. These tariffs were set to go into effect on April 2, targeting a critical sector that includes exports of fully assembled vehicles and auto components. The impact of these tariffs is particularly concerning for India.

India to face 26% US tariff as Trump unveils reciprocal trade measures on global imports; China hit with 34%
China, which has long been a target of US trade actions, will face a hefty 34% tariff, while the European Union will see a 20% levy. Vietnam, another key player in the global trade landscape, will bear the heaviest burden with a 46% tariff on its imports to the U.S. The tariffs, which Trump announced on what he referred to as “Liberation Day,” are designed to boost US manufacturing and punish countries for trade imbalances.

Aligarh sanitation worker, earning a meager Rs 15,000, gets I-T notice to pay Rs 34 crore — and he’s not the only one
The notices, which target individuals with little to no financial capacity, expose a troubling pattern of fraud involving stolen Aadhaar and PAN card details. Among the most cases reported so far is that of Karan Kumar, a 34-year-old sanitation worker who earns a modest Rs 15,000 per month at the State Bank of India’s Khair branch. On March 29, Karan received an Income Tax notice demanding an outrageous sum of Rs 33.88 crore. This demand, based on transactions carried out using his identity, came as a complete shock. According to Karan, Mahaveer Enterprises, a company dealing in petroleum and steel goods, had been using a forged PAN and Aadhaar card linked to his name for large-scale transactions in Delhi.

'Money Heist': How six men learned bank robbery from TV shows and YouTube to loot 17.7 kg gold from SBI after loan rejection
Karnataka police apprehended a six-member gang responsible for the daring robbery at the Nyamati branch of the State Bank of India (SBI) in Davangere, from which 17.7 kg of gold was stolen. The heist, which took place on October 28, 2024, had left authorities puzzled for months. However, a series of coordinated operations and cross-state investigations led to the breakthrough. The stolen gold was recovered from a well in Usalampatti town in Tamil Nadu's Madurai district, a crucial find that brought the investigation one step closer to unmasking the perpetrators. According to the police, the suspects have been identified as Vijaykumar (30), his brother Ajaykumar (28), Abhisheka (23), Chandru (23), Manjunath (32), and Paramananda (30). The group comprised both locals from Nyamati and individuals with ties to Tamil Nadu. «Vijaykumar and Ajaykumar are brothers, while Paramananda is their brother-in-law. All three are originally from Tamil Nadu but have lived in Nyamati, where they ran a sweets business for many years,» the police revealed. The other three accused—Abhisheka, Chandru, and Manjunath—hail from Nyamati, a small town in Karnataka.
