New Delhi: India plans to showcase the Global Biofuels Alliance (GBA) at the upcoming UN Climate Conference (COP28) in the UAE, one of the world’s leading oil-producing nations. As part of the advocacy, the government also plans to light up the iconic Burj Khalifa with ‘GBA’, said two people aware of the development. The marquee alliance with India, the US and Brazil as its founding members was launched at the G20 summit hosted by New Delhi in September, and has grown rapidly, with a total of 22 countries having agreed to join the GBA.

Aden, Yemen, on Sunday, authorities said. While no group immediately claimed responsibility, it comes as at least two other maritime attacks in recent days have been linked to the Israel-Hamas war. China's Huawei said on Sunday it will move core technologies and resources in its smart car unit, which has chalked up robust sales for a number of new vehicles, to a new joint company owned up to 40% by automaker Changan Auto. The new company will engage in research and development, production, sales and service of intelligent automotive systems and component solutions, Huawei said in a press release. «The new company will… work with partners to promote innovation and leadership in smart car technology and promote the prosperity and development of the automotive industry,» the release said.

Kobbi Shoshani, on Sunday expressed solidarity with the victims of the 26/11 terror attacks saying that the «DNA» of both India and Israel to fight against terrorism is the foundation of a strong bond between the two nations. He also drew a comparison between the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai with the recent October 7 attack on Israel by Hamas. Speaking to ANI, Shoshsaid, «26/11 saw terror being unleashed on innocents. Russia thwarted a Ukrainian attack on Russian regions involving at least 24 drones and two missiles, the Russian defence ministry said on Sunday. The ministry said that Ukrainian drones were shot down over Moscow, Tula, Kaluga, Smolensk and Bryansk. It also said Russian air defences shot down two Ukrainian S-200 surface-to-air missiles that had been adapted to hit land targets.

The then Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) chief Hemant Karkare, Army Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, Mumbai's additional police commissioner Ashok Kamte and senior police inspector Vijay Salaskar were among those killed in the attacks. The attacks began on November 26, 2008 and lasted until November 29. The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, the Oberoi Trident, the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower, Leopold Cafe, Cama Hospital, the Nariman House Jewish community centre were some of the places targeted by the terrorists. Nine terrorists were later killed by the security forces. Ajmal Kasab was the only terrorist who was captured alive.

S Jaishankar on Sunday paid homage to the victims on the 15th anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
