Target Digital Experts recommendations After Friday’s pullback, broader market to resume downtrend in 1-2 days: Gaurav Bissa
Gaurav Bissa, Vice-President, Incred Equities, says “there was a major breakdown in Nifty around 19,000-19250. We had three attempts in this particular zone and all the three attempts we had a very strong pullback. We have finally given a breakdown. It might be a case of breakdown retest. Nifty might go towards 19,200-250 and again start falling down. So I am expecting one more leg of fall and that can also be a swift fall going forward.” After six days of underperformance versus the benchmark, the broader market outperformed on Friday. Where according to the charts, is the broader market going? The broader markets have entered into a downtrend. If you look at the daily charts and at hourly or two-hourly charts as well, there is a clear formation of lower tops, lower bottoms which is a characteristic of downtrend. Also, there has been a fresh swing low breakout that we have seen. This is a technical pullback as for six days we have seen significant downside. The momentum indicators were in a deeply oversold zone. So it is more of a technical bounce back and we may see one or two days more of positive trading but then the downtrend can resume and we may see lower levels coming in the broader markets again.

Target Digital Experts show performer track week How will the midcaps and smallcaps fare this week? Shibani Sircar Kurian answers
Shibani Sircar Kurian, Senior EVP, Fund Manager & Head -Equity Research, Kotak Mahindra AMC, says “our belief is that in the near term, given the kind of valuation disparity that we are seeing between the broader market as well as largecap, it is possible that we will see far more volatility in the mid and smallcap segment vis-à-vis largecaps where valuations are far more reasonable. At this point in time, we would believe that at least in the near term, largecaps are better placed than midcaps and smallcaps.” When the market fell, we saw a sharp fall in the broader markets as well and on Friday, the recovery was also led by the same segment versus the benchmark indices. What is this trend that we are seeing coming in for the broader markets? Do you think that fall we saw during the week will continue for the broader markets? Ever since April of this year, the broader markets have led the way and have massively outperformed the largecaps or the Nifty. The way we look at the overall market construct between midcap, smallcap and largecaps is that just in terms of valuation, both the midcap as well as the smallcap indices are trading at multiples on a one-year forward basis which is significantly higher than its long-term average.

Citi Target FIVE Southern reports Department gatherings Expensive city in US: California has 8 cities in top ten. Details here
San Diego has been identified as the costliest city in the United States, with Los Angeles, Honolulu, and Miami following closely behind. Santa Barbara secured the fifth position, according to a recent survey. The list of the most expensive places to reside, as per findings in US News and World Report, features three of the top five cities located in Southern California, according to a report. In total, eight cities in California found their way into the top 10, with San Francisco, Salinas, Santa Rosa, Vallejo, and Fairfield all included. The survey's rankings are determined by assessing the «median gross rent and annual housing costs for mortgage-paying homeowners» in each metropolitan area, the Deadline report stated. Meanwhile, a key indicator of US inflation stayed steady in September, the government reported Friday, as policymakers push on in their battle against persistent price increases. The personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index, which is the Federal Reserve's preferred inflation gauge, rose 3.4 percent from a year ago — the same rate as in the preceding two months — said the Commerce Department. The data comes days before Federal Reserve policymakers gather for a two-day meeting to mull whether to raise interest rates again to combat stubborn inflation. While consumer inflation has cooled, the latest figures remain well above officials' two percent target and could prompt further action. Fed policymakers are due to announce their rate decision next Wednesday, with analysts generally expecting them to hold off further increases for now as the effects of earlier rate hikes ripple through the economy.
