Investing.com — U.S. futures steadied Thursday after the previous session’s losses, as investors awaited a key speech from Fed chair Jerome Powell for clues towards future monetary policy.

Electric vehicle maker Tesla made no changes to its sizeable Bitcoin (BTC) holdings for the fifth quarter in a row. However, it has directed more funds to double its computing capacity amid artificial intelligence (AI) efforts.

(Reuters) — U.S. stock index futures fell on Thursday as Treasury yields climbed to fresh 16-year highs, taking the sheen off stocks in premarket trading, while Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) dropped and Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) surged after their quarterly earnings.

Investing.com — Fed chair Jerome Powell is set to speak later in the session, while Wall Street indices are set to open lower after bond yields rose to record levels.The earnings season continues in full flow, with Netflix and Tesla in the spotlight after releasing results after Wednesday's close.

As global events and tech advancements shape the crypto world, Bitcoin price stands resilient. Trading at $28,247 with a 0.84% decline on Thursday, its price rose 6% amidst US calls for action against Hamas' crypto use following Israel's strike. 

In its latest earnings report, Tesla revealed that it did not change its Bitcoin holdings for the fifth consecutive quarter.

Investing.com-- Most Asian stocks tumbled on Thursday, with technology-heavy indexes bearing heavy losses tracking a spike in bond yields, while anticipation of a speech from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell also kept investors on edge. 

The Texas-based electric vehicle giant said sales in the July to September period reached $23.35 billion, lower than the $24.19 billion forecasted by analysts polled by Factset. The company also saw net profits come in less than hoped for, at 66 cents per share instead of 73 cents forecasted. Musk has undertaken multiple price cuts throughout 2023 on vehicles, telling investors in April that the company has taken the view that pushing for higher sales is the right choice versus taking a bigger margin. The move came as more EVs from legacy carmakers like General Motors and Ford are hitting dealerships. But those rivals have been punished by a major strike in the United States, something that Tesla will not have to navigate. The price cuts have made investors nervous and Tesla's share price slid more than seven percent in the last month and was down more than three percent from its last closing price in afterhours trade. The Tesla stock valuation however still dwarfs other US car makers and it has more than doubled in 2023, comforting Musk's position as one of the world's two richest people.
