Is Elon Musk in ‘Demon Mode’? New biography digs deeper into the life of the world’s richest man
Elon Musk is unveiled as a complex character in an eagerly-awaited biography by Walter Isaacson, the man renowned for chronicling the lives of Steve Jobs, Albert Einstein and Leonardo da Vinci. Driven by what some describe as a "demonic" zeal, Musk's multifaceted life—from his early struggles with an overbearing father to his recent unorthodox management decisions—gets a closer look. Isaacson's book on Musk has already become a bestseller in the United States, even before its official release.

Asian stocks steady, dollar catches breath as traders eye US CPI
traders waiting on U.S. inflation data to signal that interest rates may have peaked. The yen notched its best day against the dollar in two months overnight, after Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda said policymakers might have enough economic information by year's end to determine that short-term rates will need to rise. The yuan had its best day in six months after authorities vowed to correct one-way moves and Reuters reported the central bank had stepped up scrutiny of dollar buying. Both, however, remain near their weakest levels of the year and with the yuan at 7.3022 per dollar in offshore trade and the yen last a little off Monday highs at 146.68 per dollar. Japanese government bonds remained under pressure on Tuesday, with 10-year JGB yields up 1 basis point to a fresh high of 0.71%. «The result of Ueda's comments was an intense move higher in Japanese swaps and government bond yields,» said Chris Weston, head of research at brokerage Pepperstone in Melbourne. "(It) is certainly constructive for yen longs.

Tesla jumps as analyst predicts $600 billion value boost from Dojo
Tesla rallied 6% on Monday after Morgan Stanley said its Dojo supercomputer could power a near $600 billion surge in the electric-car maker's market value by helping speed up its foray into robotaxis and software services. Tesla, already the world's most valuable automaker, started production of the supercomputer to train artificial intelligence (AI) models for self-driving cars in July and plans to spend more than $1 billion on Dojo through next year. Dojo can open up new addressable markets that «extend well beyond selling vehicles at a fixed price,» Morgan Stanley analysts led by Adam Jonas wrote in a note on Sunday. «If Dojo can help make cars 'see' and 'react,' what other markets could open up? Think of any device at the edge with a camera that makes real-time decisions based on its visual field.» The Wall Street brokerage upgraded Tesla's stock to «overweight» from «equal-weight» and replaced Ferrari's U.S.-listed shares with it as «top pick». Morgan Stanley raised its 12-18 month target on Tesla's shares by 60% to $400 — the highest among Wall Street brokerages, as per LSEG data — which, it estimated, would give the EV maker a market capitalization of about $1.39 trillion. That is about 76% higher than Tesla's market value of about $789 billion, based on the stock's close of $248.5 on Friday.
