A North Korean missile explodes in the sky—and a mystery emerges
SEOUL : North Korea said it had successfully tested technology for raining down multiple nuclear warheads at once—a top weapons goal for Kim Jong Un and an increased threat to the U.S. and its allies. But, in an unusually pointed rebuke, South Korea denounced the self-declared achievement as a bluff.

RBI cautions against surge in private credit between corporates and non-banks

ALSO READ: Savings down, financial liabilities up: RBI says household debt warrants needs close monitoring “The rapid growth of private credit, increasing interconnectedness with banks and NBFIs and opacity can create vulnerabilities that could become systemic,” the RBI said. “Private credit is yet to be tested in a credit cycle downturn and sharp losses could lead to a loss of confidence in the asset class as a whole.”

Jos Buttler won’t panic no matter what Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli do: Nasser Hussain declares ahead of T20 World Cup 2024
HT quoted Hussain's column for DailyMail.According to him, India have not been tested that much in the tournament."Their challenge will be to stay in the game for as long as possible, because India have only been tested once so far in this World Cup, by Pakistan. They may also have to adapt to conditions, and decide that going for hell for leather isn’t the way to play," he wrote.Hussain noted England are a better side when it comes to honing their approach to win trophies."Don’t forget that they’ve been honing (England) their approach for a long time, while India have only belatedly decided to hit out at the top.

Calgary water service could be restored by Canada Day if tests go well: mayor
Calgary’s mayor says if everything goes according to plan, the city’s water conservation crisis could be over by Canada Day.Mayor Jyoti Gondek says water service could be fully restored and restrictions lifted by July 1 if upcoming steps to stabilize a replacement water pipe go as planned.“If there are any problems in any of those steps … it could be more days,” Gondek told a news conference Wednesday.“We can see the finish line. It’s close, but we still have more work to do.”Gondek said until the “all clear” is given, Calgarians can’t lose focus and need to reduce their water use by 25 per cent to avoid the taps going dry.She said daily water usage has been climbing in recent days but remains below the threshold of 480 million litres needed to keep service going and provide firefighters with the resources to combat emergencies.Calgary, a city of 1.6 million people, and surrounding communities, including Airdrie, Chestermere and Tsuut’ina Nation, have been under a combination of mandatory and voluntary water restrictions since a water main burst in the city’s northwest three weeks ago.Residents have been asked to limit indoor water use by flushing their toilets less often and doing fewer loads of laundry.

Failure spelling future success is an exception, not the rule
A new scientific paper on failure may have succeeded in offering the most depressing opening line in the history of scientific papers: “Is there anything failure does not ruin? It destroys reputations, careers, and families; economic prospects, political prospects, and social ones." That’s perhaps a useful corrective to all the graduation speakers, motivational gurus, and TED-talk-giving experts who glibly recount how they persisted, failure after failure, on the way to success. It’s easy to forget that many more people fail at least as many times and never achieve their goal. There are many more frustrated authors than best-selling ones, failed entrepreneurs than self-made billionaires, and actor-baristas than bona fide movie stars.

The three countries' leaders held a summit last year and agreed to conduct drills every year to demonstrate unity in the face of North Korea's nuclear threats and China's rising regional influence.

North Korea says it tested a multiwarhead missile. Kim Jong Un covets the weapon to overwhelm US defenses
North Korea said Thursday it had successfully tested a multiwarhead missile, a sophisticated weapon coveted by leader Kim Jong Un to overwhelm missile defenses in the continental United States. The statement contradicted South Korea's assessment of a failed launch Wednesday of a different type of weapon. The launch tested the separation and guidance control of individual mobile warheads to ensure the capability of the Multiple Independent Reentry Vehicle, the North's official Korean Central News Agency said. The separated mobile warheads «were guided correctly to the three coordinate targets» and a decoy that separated from the missile was verified by radar, it said. It was North Korea's first known launch event related to the development of a multiwarhead missile, though outside experts believe it was a preliminary test.
