Lyft’s CEO David Risher says ‘My bad’ on margin error, ‘It was one zero’
Bloomberg Television on Wednesday, taking the blame for a typo in a company press release Tuesday that erroneously projected a particular measure of earnings margin to expand by an eye-watering 500 basis points. (In reality, Lyft expects margins to grow by 50 basis points.) “This was a bad error," he said, “but it was one zero in a press release." The typo, which actually appeared in multiple company documents on Tuesday, helped drive a 67% surge in Lyft’s shares in after-hours trading.

Cisco to lay off more than 4,000 employees, lowers annual revenue forecast
Cisco Systems said it would cut 5% of its global workforce, or more than 4,000 jobs, and lowered its annual revenue target as the company navigates a tough economy that has led to thousands of layoffs by tech firms this year. Key gauge shows traders expecting fewer rate cuts
OIS), the principal financial market gauge for gauging which way interest rates are headed, show that traders have reduced the extent of rate cuts they expect from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) this year, following a vigilant tone on inflation and liquidity by the central bank. A slower-than-expected inflation decline in the US and sobering Federal Reserve commentary on when its much-awaited policy easing may start has also prompted Indian traders to reduce their bets on how much rates the RBI will cut this year.

An ISI okay for luxury labels: What’ll we think of next?
Reports this week in Mint on the government’s new quality-control orders on high-end luxury shoes from Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior included the gem that the shoes certified appropriate for pampered Indian women’s feet would be mandated to have an ISI stamp (a sign of Indian Standards Institute approval) to embellish them. This sounded like a comic skit of the new licence raj, written not by Kafka but by those who made Carrie Bradshaw and her love of swanky Jimmy Choo shoes a key theme of the TV series Sex and The City. Such certification is impractical.
