Which part of power bucket will see highest earnings growth in next 10 years? Fitch Ratings’ Girish Madan answers
Girish Madan, Director, Fitch Ratings, says it would be a combination of both thermal and renewable generation sides. In renewables, wWe have seen some pressure on the earnings because tariffs were coming down as competitive intensity was increasing in the sector, but of late the profitability should increase because some of the variables have turned in favour of the Gencos. Some of the commodity prices have also come down. Plus, there has been a 20-30% correction in solar module prices. All these factors could lead to enhanced EBITDA generation as well as profitability for Gencos. Where exactly in the power basket are we seeing the highest amount of activity in terms of addition of capacities? Girish Madan: Over the last few years, we have seen a large part of capacity addition has happened in the renewable space. If we talk about the last two years, around 40 gigawatts have been added in India and 80% of that has gone into solar and wind capacities, mainly solar capacities, so that is where we have seen capacity addition happening. We have seen some volatilities as far as the demand was concerned before COVID, so there was a slowdown in capacity addition. But sustained demand over the last three years has led to a great increase in capacity addition.

Foreign lands turn hunting ground for CXO search companies
Executive search firms say about 30-50% of their CXO searches in the last six to 18 months have been looking at potential global candidates, up from about 10-15% a few years ago. There is a preference for returning Indians fuelled by a push from companies and boards amid an increasing need for professionals with a keen knowledge and understanding of global markets. An acute demandsupply mismatch in the leadership talent market and the need to hire for specialist roles in high-tech manufacturing, automotive, electric vehicles (EVs), pharmaceuticals, chemicals, hardcore product engineering and services industries have underscored the trend, said experts. “About one in three leadership searches that we conduct today are global, not limited to India, reaching out to people in Singapore, US, Canada, London, and Middle East, showing the rising demand for the global talent pool of Indians,” said Puneet Pratap Singh, partner-in-charge at Heidrick & Struggles India.

What to expect from the Indian stock market next week? Ashi Anand answers
«IT is weak. Banking, you are seeing a bit muted, not so much because of growth or asset quality, but because margins are under some level of pressure,» says Ashi Anand, Founder & CEO, IME Capital. The kind of earnings that we have seen here, globally also there is so much of focus on earnings right now, but then what should one expect? There was one view, one part of the argument was that a heavy earnings or the earnings which could put up a decimal picture like Reliance or maybe IT, those earnings have already gone by now. Look what it looks like now. Can we say the numbers which are yet to report now, the companies which are yet to report numbers now, the growth could moderate here, understanding that the major benefit of the commodity prices environment is largely captured?
