Indrajit Agarwal, Senior Research Analyst, CLSA, says there are three or four levers of cost savings. One is higher renewable power usage, second is lower lead distances, third is improving the mix of cement, etc. All those things will lead to profitability improvement. In an environment where the top few players are focusing on both cost savings and market share gain, pricing would be very difficult to come by and that is where larger cement players with better volume growth visibility and cost saving outlook are likely to fare much better than the smaller or regional players. What have been your key takeaways for materials as a sector? Indrajit Agarwal: If you look at the sector, what has happened in the past few years and also year to date, we have been in the midst of a structural upcycle driven by all the levers, be it infrastructure, housing, property market, whatever you call it. However, the last six months effectively has been a perfect storm. We have had a confluence of three events which has led to a significant weakness in the demand environment.

As car theft finally decelerates in Canada after a surge in recent years, the country’s top 10 stolen vehicles for 2023 have been revealed – and they’re mostly SUVs.The Toyota Highlander topped the list, with 3,413 thefts reported, according to the non-profit Équité Association. The Highlanders most commonly stolen were 2021 models.“The Toyota Highlander is a popular model in Canada, which is globally serviceable and has a high resale value both domestically and internationally,” Équité said in news release Tuesday.“It also shares similarities with nearly all of the vehicles on the national list, where the vehicles are 2019 or newer models, and have vulnerabilities that come with keyless ignitions, particularly as these vehicles do not come equipped with anti-theft devices aligned to the ULC 338 Anti-theft Standards.”The Dodge Ram 1500 Series truck came in second place with 3,078 thefts across the country last year, followed by the Lexus RX Series, which was stolen 3,037 times.The Honda CR-V, which was ranked Canada’s top stolen vehicle for two consecutive years, was bumped down to the fourth spot with 2,988 thefts.

Nimesh Chandan: So, Robert Shiller once said that corrections in a bull market come like a thief in the night. You cannot really time it. So, obviously, whenever it comes, people get a bit surprised and shocked. And this correction especially was triggered by one set of investors, the foreign investors, selling in a very intense way in say time crunched within one month. It is a record selling within that, so that is what got people a bit worried about this correction compared to any regular correction that comes in.

Honasa Consumer, parent of personal care brand Mamaearth, plunged 20% — the lowest trading limit of the day — after the company posted losses in its second-quarter earnings. The stock closed at ₹297.25, below its initial public offering (IPO) price of ₹324. The company was listed last November. Concerns over a likely decline in sales in its flagship brand, Mamaearth and earlier expectations of strong earnings growth have made investors sceptical about the stock's prospects.

Mutual Fund on Monday divested 6.6 per cent stake in MedPlus Health Services for Rs 552 crore through open market transactions. MedPlus Health Services is a retail pharmacy and diagnostics chain in India. Billionaire Azim Premji's PE firm Premji Invest, through its arm PI Opportunities Fund — I, sold 68.93 lakh shares or 5.77 per cent stake in MedPlus Health Services and exited the firm, according to the block deal data on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
