UPS Food wellness Cycling show track social Focus on public capex going to be paramount in coming years: Aurodeep Nandi
«The daily data that we are tracking is showing that vegetable prices is probably going to be as much if not higher than what we have observed in June. The other aspect is also that telecom tariffs were increased by around 20% or so in end of June and so the impact of that is likely to be visible in the July print,» says Aurodeep Nandi, India Economist, Nomura. The inflation reading though on a bit on expected lines came in above the 5% mark. Thanks to perhaps what is happening in the veggies side because of erratic monsoon. But do you expect it to remain sticky for some time? It appears even RBI is readying the street that inflation is sticky, rates could remain higher for longer. Aurodeep Nandi: Well, there are three things really to watch out for as far as July is concerned. One is that we have this massive-massive favourable base effect that kicks in. So, last year, June was 4.9%, that spiked to 7.4% in July. So, simultaneously, the July number coming up will be impacted by a favourable base. But that is going to mask a lot of the upside pressures that are there. One, as you mentioned, vegetable prices. These are typically the months when vegetable prices go up quite a lot.

UPS Manufacturing Election community President 2020 Area that hosted Trump rally could prove pivotal in 2024 election
BUTLER, Pa.—The assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump occurred in a largely rural slice of western Pennsylvania that in many ways typifies the regions Trump is leaning on for strong support in the coming election. Butler County, the site of Saturday’s Trump rally, and the surrounding area are home to an economy that has swung significantly in recent decades. The shift, from the decline of steel and manufacturing jobs to the rise of the natural-gas fracking industry, has left many workers displaced and unsettled.

COST UPS Provident Waters show Hydro power is facing a deepening dry spell
renewable energy has been going through a dry patch. Generation from solar farms roughly tripled between 2018 and 2023, while the output of wind turbines almost doubled. That provided enough extra clean energy to power Japan and Russia, put together. Meanwhile, the hydroelectric dams that generate about one-seventh of the world’s electricity stood still: The additional 52 terawatt-hours in 2023 was only enough to fuel Greece. That’s not overly surprising. Hydro’s problems resemble those of the other veteran form of clean power, nuclear. Unlike wind and solar, it’s been an established technology for decades, so much of its growth potential has already been exploited. Like nuclear, it’s dependent on the building of costly and time-consuming projects to move forward, and shows little sign of reducing its (already low) costs. Compounding the problems, a two-year drought connected to the La Niña climate cycle during 2022 and 2023 caused a collapse of generation in China, home to about a third of the world’s hydro dams.
