Buy Nykaa at current price; 2 top picks for the day: Aditya Arora
Aditya Arora, Adlytick, says he would like to go with Reliance. It is doing well after a long time. So, Reliance could be bought at Rs 2970. Rs 2900 is the stop loss and Rs 3070 is the target. The second one is Cipla from the pharma space. This could be bought at Rs 1471, Rs 1430 is the stop loss and Rs 1540 is the target. Today, Nifty seems to have comfortably crossed the 22,500 mark that it has been holding on for quite a long time. Do you expect this up move or Nifty to now comfortably stay above the 22,500 levels? Aditya Arora: The participation is good from the Reliance end, but auto is also doing well. However, other heavyweights are not participating. I would calculate the decisive breakout would come above 22,800 in Nifty futures and decisive breakout in Bank Nifty would come above 49,200. I would be bullish once these levels are crossed and sustained.

Sometimes, the pace continues, whereas in some cases, it does not.

No reason to sell Wipro and no reason to buy Bandhan Bank now: Sandip Sabharwal
Sandip Sabharwal, asksandipsabharwal.com, says “the IT outsourcing industry is facing challenges in terms of demand but this could incrementally be positive in my view. I do not think this is incrementally negative. Most analysts are giving a sell on Wipro today; I am not so sure about that. This is something to be tracked.” Sabharwal further says that “it seems very clear that the main reason for Chandra Shekhar Ghosh resigning as CEO & MD of Bandhan Bank could be some reservation from the regulator, although we are not privy to that. Otherwise, when the board had approved his extension, there was no reason for him to step down.” Maybe we can start off with your take as to what is going on with respect to Wipro? There has always been a lot of uncertainty with respect to the top position at Wipro. Do you think that even with the new CEO, the improvement is going to be gradual? How do you expect the stock to react? Sandip Sabharwal: It will be a gradual process.

Leisure is leading although individual business travel is coming back:Hyatt Hotels CEO
Mark Hoplamazian, President & CEO, Hyatt Hotels Corp, says “growth has been led by leisure travel and mostly domestic leisure travel. And the difference between the amount of money spent on domestically leisure travel versus inbound leisure travel is something like seven to one.” It has been a couple of years that you have not visited India. How has been the mood like at HICSA 2024? What has been your reading? How is it different from, let us say, a couple of years to now? Mark Hoplamazian: I think the difference really is that a lot of the questions that were present two years ago with respect to Covid recovery, are now answered. Secondly, the performance has been so extraordinary that it is plain to see and obvious to everyone.

‘Most returns likely in first half of 2024’
Edited excerpts: Compared to 2017-18, I believe this market cycle is stronger due to robust earnings from midcap and smallcap companies, supported by solid fundamentals. The rally back then seemed more frothy as it was primarily driven by fund flows. This time it is a combination of fund flows and strong fundamentals.

Does the new income tax regime suit you? Find out who should move from the old tax regime to the new one
tax matters can put you in a tight spot. Having coughed up a high tax for the past three months, Shilpa Bose knows this too well. The Delhi-based marketing professional submitted investment proof and other documents before the 15 January deadline, but still ended up paying a high tax. “The finance department didn’t take into account my tax-saving investments, medical insurance premium and home loan interest payments,” she says. That’s because Bose had not specified her choice of tax regime, which put her under the new tax regime by default and made her ineligible to claim many tax deductions and exemptions. A lot of salaried taxpayers might be in the same boat. Last year’s Budget had made the new tax regime the default option for salaried taxpayers. The employees who did not inform their companies about the tax regime they preferred were automatically put in the new tax regime. OLD REGIME
