markets COST Target Sustainability wellness country Schools Bajaj Auto’s Rakesh Sharma on export recovery, EV launches & more
Rakesh Sharma, ED, Bajaj Auto, says coming to exports recovery, in the last one or two quarters, we have bottomed out and have also sensed a slightly better flow of funds from overseas, but still have to watch a couple of quarters to see whether there is a substantive and sustainable recovery now well underway.” There are so many factors to look forward to, new launches in EVs, a recovery in exports, the growth in the CNG motorcycle launch. Let’s begin with the recovery that we have seen in exports, a 10% year-on-year growth. Can you build on this number and if so, which are the markets according to you that will really lead this growth? Rakesh Sharma: I must say that the exports recovery needs to be still watched for a couple of quarters. It is completely on the back of macroeconomic factors. Happily, in many countries, the informal exchange rate and the formal exchange rate are now finally converging, which allows the banking systems to support international trade though, of course, it is a serious devaluation in many countries which raises the ultimate purchase price and that has to be digested.

markets Citi Provident CEO wellness Interviews International If there's one story where risks are limited and upside's high, it is India: HSBC India CEO Hitendra Dave
India is at the top of the chart for global investors, said HSBC India CEO Hitendra Dave. The absence of global banks in Indian retail lending and the soaring wealth effect of the Indian middle class have provided a springboard for HSBC India to become the vital lever of growth for the British bank, Dave said in an interview with Bhaskar Dutta and MC Govardhana Rangan. Edited excerpts: Among global banks, with Citi exiting retail, you are alone in the competitive retail space. What is it that you are seeing that others don't? My sense is that there is place for only one international bank to have the ambitions and market-share aspirations of a local bank while continuing to operate as an international bank — be it governance, structure, product, technology, and servicing. What distinguishes us is just the totality of all these things — the aspirations of a local, private bank but operations like an international bank. It is very important to have the emotional connection of a domestic bank. I can't judge myself, but I think we are that international bank. When you talk to large customers, if you ask them which is that one international bank which is ticking these boxes? I hope most people will say HSBC.

UPS Google Apple Gemini wellness exclusive Features A ‘GeminiPhone’ could boost Apple’s and Google’s AI game
There are many reasons Apple Inc’s stock hasn’t been so hot lately, but a big one is that investors at large feel the American company [which sparked off the personal computer revolution in the 1980s and then put smartphones in people’s hands two decades later to shift our relationship with hi-tech gadgetry once again] lacks a compelling ‘story’ on artificial intelligence (AI). By that, they mean Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook doesn’t seem as if he has much of a plan. Google, to its credit, does have an AI story.

Provident Election wellness information donates Half measures can make things murky
judicial intent of better informing voter choice through disclosures about electoral bonds (EBs) is obviously welcome. But here's the thing — could it lead to a perverse outcome of driving corporate donations to political parties further underground during the upcoming elections? Corporate donations through EBs were premised upon a layer of anonymity by maintaining uncorrelated lists of donors and recipients. If this correlation is established through additional information provided by issuer of the bonds, SBI, companies face the prospect of loss of reputation, or even litigation.
