Brookfield REIT Q4 Results: Net income jumps 89% YoY at Rs 461 crore
Brookfield India Real Estate Trust (BIRET) on Thursday reported an 89 per cent rise in its adjusted net operating income to Rs 460.8 crore during the March quarter and announced distribution of Rs 208.6 crore to unitholders. Its net operating income (NOI) stood at Rs 244.4 crore in the year-ago period. During the full 2023-24 fiscal, the company's NOI increased to Rs 1,506.2 crore from Rs 960.8 crore in the preceding year, according to a regulatory filing.

Concor Q4 Results: Net profit rises 10% YoY to Rs 301.25 crore
Container Corporation of India Ltd (Concor) on Thursday posted a 9.88 per cent increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 301.25 crore for the March 2024 quarter. The company had reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 274.14 crore a year ago, Concor said in a regulatory filing. During the quarter under review, consolidated revenue from operations was Rs 2,417.87 crore against Rs 2,281.75 in the year-ago period.

Vodafone Idea on Thursday reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 7,675 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2024, which was up from Rs 6,419 crore reported by the company in the year-ago period. Revenue from operations was reported at Rs 10,607 crore, which was up from Rs 10,532 crore reported in the corresponding quarter of the last financial year. The revenue in the quarter under review was up by 0.71% YoY.

Share of non-fossil fuel to grow to 50% in domestic energy generation capacity by 2030: MNRE Secy
non-fossil fuel to 50 per cent in the country's total installed electricity generation capacity by 2030, MNRE Secretary Bhupinder Singh Bhalla has said. The share of non-fossil fuel-based capacity in India's installed energy generation capacity is around 42 per cent at present, the official said in a address at the World Hydrogen Summit 2024 in Rotterdam, Netherlands, on May 15, 2024, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy said in a statement. «Approximately 43 per cent of India's current installed electricity capacity is from non-fossil-fuel sources, with projections indicating a rise to 50 per cent by 2030,» he said. As per official figures, there was a 10.79 per cent rise in non-fossil fuel-based capacity (renewable energy sources) addition at 190.57 gigawatt (GW) in 2023-24 over 172.01 GW in 2022-23.

Delhi Police sources and other officials, Swati Maliwal, an AAP Rajya Sabha MP, has filed a police complaint regarding an alleged assault at the official residence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. A team led by Additional Commissioner P S Kushwaha visited Maliwal's residence for over four hours to gather details about the incident. Maliwal claimed that a member of Kejriwal's personal staff assaulted her. On Monday morning, Maliwal went to the Civil Lines police station here and alleged that a member of Kejriwal's personal staff «assaulted» her at the chief minister's official residence, police officials said. Police have not yet received a formal complaint.

Women hit hardest due to inflation: Congress' Ragini Nayak
Congress spokesperson Ragini Nayak on Thursday said the biggest blow of inflation has hit the women in this country. Addressing a press conference at the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) headquarters here, Nayak said the people have 'thali' (plate), but not food; they have vehicles, but not fuel; and they have degrees, but not jobs. «If anyone has been hit the hardest by inflation, it is the women of this country. The Congress has promised Rs 1 lakh annually to the poor women in its manifesto,» she said. Nayak further claimed that in May 2014, the price of an LPG cylinder was Rs 414, which was Rs 1,103 in July 2023. The petrol which was Rs 72 per litre in 2014, has now reached Rs 95 per litre.

Can't direct CBI to register FIR: Special Court to MMTC on coal import scam
special court has dismissed a plea by the Metals and Minerals Trading Corporation of India (MMTC) seeking the registration of an FIR by the CBI in connection with alleged corruption in the import of coal from an Australian company at inflated rates in 2009, officials said Thursday. The PSU had sought directions to the CBI to register an FIR in matter which is now being investigated by the central probe agency by registering a preliminary enquiry. A preliminary enquiry is the first step by the agency to ascertain if there is prima facie enough material in the allegations to warrant a full-fledged investigation through an FIR or a regular case, they said. The plea was dismissed by the special court which said it does not have power to direct the CBI to register an FIR and investigate the case.

K2 Infragen gets Rs 90 cr railway order in UP
K2 Infragen on Thursday said it has bagged a Rs 90 crore railway bridge project at Chandauli in Uttar Pradesh. «The tender was secured by a joint venture between Gangasagar Singh and PRL Infrastructure, with K2 Infragen being entrusted with the complete executional responsibility for the project by the UP-State Bridge Corporation Ltd,» the company said in a statement. The Rs 90.2-crore contract is for the construction of a four-lane rail over bridge (ROB) on the Patna-Mughalsarai section of Danapur division in the district of Chandauli in Uttar Pradesh, K2 Infragen said in a statement. The project is to be completed within an 18-month timeframe, it said.

Enforcement Directorate Thursday told the Supreme Court it will soon file a prosecution complaint against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in a money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam. Appearing for the ED, Additional Solicitor General SV Raju told a bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta, «We are proposing to file the prosecution complaint (charge sheet) against Arvind Kejriwal and AAP. We will do it shortly. It is in the pipeline.» The statements were made by the ED during the hearing on Kejriwal's plea against his arrest. The Delhi chief minister was arrested on March 21 in the case.

Fake 'bomb' note sparks panic on board Vadodara-bound flight
Panic gripped a Delhi-Vadodara Air India flight at the IGI airport here after a crew member spotted a tissue paper with the word "bomb" written on it in the aircraft's washroom, police said on Thursday. The flight was searched after the note was discovered on Wednesday evening but nothing suspicious was found, a police officer said. He said the aircraft was ready for take-off when the crew member spotted the tissue paper at 7 pm. The Central Industrial Security Force and the Delhi Police were informed and passengers were asked to deboard the flight, he said.

Exports may rise 12-15 pc to cross USD 500 bn this fiscal: FIEO
merchandise exports are expected to increase about USD 60-70 billion to USD 500 billion by the end of FY25, apex exporters' body FIEO said on Thursday. In 2023-24, exports dipped over 3 per cent to USD 437 billion. Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) President Ashwini Kumar also said the country's services exports are also likely to reach USD 390-400 billion this fiscal. «We are looking for merchandise exports between USD 500-510 billion in 2024-25. In the services, we expect exports to be around USD 390-400 billion for the current fiscal,» Kumar told reporters here.

Excise policy: Delhi HC seeks CBI's stand on BRS leader K Kavitha's bail plea
Delhi High Court on Thursday sought the stand of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on BRS leader K Kavitha's bail plea in a corruption case in connection with the alleged excise policy scam. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma issued notice to the CBI on the plea and listed the matter for further hearing on May 24 along another petition by Kavitha seeking bail in the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) money laundering case. The high court also issued notice and sought the CBI's response on another plea by Kavitha against a trial court order which allowed the probe agency to interrogate her in custody. Kavitha is in judicial custody in both the cases lodged by the ED and the CBI in relation to the alleged scam. She was represented by senior advocate Vikram Chaudhari and lawyer Nitesh Rana.

M&M to invest to Rs 12,000 cr in EV biz; timeframe for BII's Rs 1,925 cr investment extended
investment of Rs 12,000 crore into its electric business MEAL over the next three years, the company said in a stock exchange filing on Thursday. The company and its auto division expects to generate sufficient operating cash to satisfy its capital investment needs and is currently not looking to raise additional capital, it said. Further, M&M and BII have agreed to extend the timeframe for the final tranche of the latter's planned investment of Rs 725 crore, the company said. So far, BII has invested Rs 1,200 crore while Temasek invested Rs 300 crore in Mahindra Electric Automobile Limited (MEAL). Temasek will invest the balance Rs 900 crore as per agreed timeline, M&M said.
