Odisha facing simultaneous Lok Sabha and assembly polls, top leaders of all major political parties are making a beeline for the state. Audio electronics brand GOVO targets to be a Rs 1,000 crore entity by FY2027-28, a top official of the company said on Wednesday. The Bengaluru-based audio electronics brand, established in 2022, clocked a revenue of Rs 100 crore in FY2023-24, GOVO CEO and Co-founder Varun Poddar said. «So in FY24, we closed at around Rs 100 crore and we grew around six times, seven times from what we were last year and our goal for the next three years is to go to a thousand crore top line with a 15 per cent to 20 per cent market share. In FY27-28, we are targeting to be a thousand crore company,» he told PTI in an interaction. When asked about factors fueling growth, he said that the company plans to expand the category, increase its market share and go for premiumisation in the category.

Vivek Joshi on Wednesday said increasing Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) would be a key strategy for enhancing India's financial services exports. Inaugurating a workshop on financial services in FTAs here, Joshi highlighted the pivotal role of financial services in India's export strategy. The workshop organised jointly by Department of Financial Services (DFS) and Exim Bank brought together key stakeholders from the government bodies and academia to delve into the intricate dynamics of FTAs and the pivotal role of financial services in the new-age FTAs. Piyush Goyal, who is the BJP's candidate from Mumbai North, on Wednesday hit out at leaders of opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) for labelling him as an outsider, saying they are «helpless» and making ridiculous arguments. «There can be nobody more Mumbaikar than me,» Goyal told PTI during a road show here in response to questions on the «outsider» barb hurled at him by the opposition. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut and Congress leader Varsha Gaikwad, who dubbed Goyal as an «outsider», had said voters of Mumbai North would send «Pedder Road's parcel back to Pedder Road» in the Lok Sabha elections for the parliamentary constituency on May 20. Goyal had mentioned his residential address as Malabar Hill, a locality in the vicinity of Pedder Road, an affluent neighbourhood in South Mumbai. «That is a very ridiculous argument. LIC Housing Finance on Wednesday reported a 7.5% year-on-year fall in net profit to Rs 1,091 crore for the March quarter against Rs 1,180 crore in the year-ago period. Its gross profit for the quarter stood a tad higher at Rs 1,476 crore against Rs 1,445 crore.

unemployment rate for people aged 15 years and above in urban areas declined to 6.7 per cent in the January-March period from 6.8 per cent a year ago, according to the National Sample Survey Survey (NSSO). Joblessness, or unemployment rate, is defined as the percentage of unemployed people in the labour force. The unemployment rate in the March quarter of FY23 was 6.8 per cent, while it was 6.6 per cent in April-June as well as in the third quarter (July-September 2023) of the previous fiscal. It was 6.5 per cent in October-December 2023. The unemployment rate for people aged 15 years and above in January-March 2024 was 6.7 per cent in urban areas, the 22nd Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) showed.

Slovakia's populist Prime Minister Robert Fico was wounded in a shooting Wednesday afternoon and taken to hospital. Reports on TA3, a Slovakian TV station, said that Fico, 59, was hit in the stomach after four shots were fired outside the House of Culture in the town of Handlova, some 150 kilometers northeast of the capital, where the leader was meeting with supporters. A suspect has been detained, it said. Police sealed off the scene.

Mankind Pharma on Wednesday reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 477 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2024, which was up by 62.2% versus Rs 294 crore reported by the company in the year-ago period. The revenue from operations stood at Rs 2,441 crore versus Rs 2,053 crore reported in the year-ago period. It was up by 19% on a YoY basis.

Jindal Stainless on Wednesday reported a net profit of Rs 501 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2024, 30% lower than the profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 716.29 crore reported by the company in the corresponding period of the last financial year. The consolidated revenue from operations stood at Rs 9,454 crore for the quarter under review down from Rs 9,765 crore reported in the year-ago period. This translates into a 3.2% YoY decline.

Dixon Technologies on Wednesday announced a 20% year-on-year (YoY) rise in PAT at Rs 97 crore for the fourth quarter of FY24 while the revenues stood at Rs 4,675 crore, surging 52% YoY. The company’s EBITDA stood at Rs 199 crore for Q4FY24, up by 26% from the same period last year, while the EBITDA for the full financial year stood at Rs 720 crore, up by 39% from FY23.
