The NSE Nifty index ended the session 17.3 points down at 22200.55, while BSE Sensex fell 117.58 points to 72987.03.
In the Nifty index, Coal India Ltd.(up 4.27 per cent), Cipla Ltd.(up 3.64 per cent), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(up 3.16 per cent), Bharti Airtel Ltd.(up 2.00 per cent) and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(up 1.82 per cent) stood among the top gainers.
