The NSE Nifty index ended the session 183.46 points down at 22704.7, while BSE Sensex fell 667.55 points to 74502.9.
In the Nifty index, Hindalco Industries Ltd.(up 3.53 per cent), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(up 1.57 per cent), Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(up 1.28 per cent), Nestle India Ltd.(up 1.00 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(up 0.96 per cent) stood among the top gainers.
