Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market falls

DCM Shriram Industries Ltd.(down 11.59%), Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Ltd.(down 10.88%), Sakthi Sugars Ltd.(down 10.04%), Simbhaoli Sugars Ltd.(down 9.97%), Dhampur Sugar Mills Ltd.(down 9.36%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(down 8.50%), KCP Sugar & Industries Corporation Ltd.(down 8.44%), KM Sugar Mills Ltd.(down 8.40%), Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd.(down 8.25%) and Balrampur Chini Mills Ltd.(down 6.91%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 1379.41 points down at 21884.5, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 4389.73 points at 72079.05.
Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(up 5.96%), Nestle India Ltd.(up 3.09%), Britannia Industries Ltd.(up 3.05%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 2.91%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(up 1.67%), Cipla Ltd.(up 0.71%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 0.33%) and Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(up 0.06%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(down 21.15%), Adani Enterprises Ltd.(down 19.32%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(down 16.83%), NTPC Ltd.(down 15.46%), State Bank of India(down 14.41%), Coal India Ltd.(down 13.76%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(down 12.91%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd.(down 12.68%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(down 12.36%) and Shriram Finance Ltd.(down 9.91%) closed in the red.
