Stock market update: Fertilisers stocks up as market falls

The Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Ltd.(up 14.67%), National Fertilizers Ltd.(up 11.69%), Paradeep Phosphates Ltd.(up 9.97%), Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd.(up 9.65%), Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd.(up 8.84%), Madras Fertilizers Ltd.(up 8.66%), Sikko Industries Ltd.(up 8.42%), Southern Petrochemicals Industries Corporation Ltd.(up 8.38%), Zuari Agro Chemicals Ltd.(up 6.45%) and Gujarat State Fertilizer & Chemicals Ltd.(up 6.02%) stood among the top gainers.

Bohra Industries Ltd.(down 5.01%) and Madhya Bharat Agro Products Ltd.(down 0.56%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 30.96 points down at 23259.2, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 203.28 points at 76490.08.
UltraTech Cement Ltd.(up 3.48%), Grasim Industries Ltd.(up 2.82%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 2.52%), Cipla Ltd.(up 2.48%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(up 2.09%), Nestle India Ltd.(up 1.83%), NTPC Ltd.(up 1.2%), Axis Bank Ltd.(up 1.12%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 1.12%) and Shriram Finance Ltd.(up 0.85%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 2.71%), Infosys Ltd.(down 2.21%), Wipro Ltd.(down 1.92%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.75%), LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 1.49%), Bajaj Finance Ltd.(down 1.43%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 0.91%), HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 0.9%), HDFC Bank Ltd.(down 0.77%) and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 0.73%) closed in the red.
