Vodafone Idea FPO is off to a cautiousstart. On the first day itself, qualified institutional buyers (QIBs) subscribe to the issue in quite good portion.

Delhi metro officials announced that train operations between Delhi Metro's Samaypur Badli and Jahangir Puri stations on the Yellow Line will be restricted to a single line for a duration of four months to facilitate the execution of Phase-IV work for the Magenta Line extension. Service disruptions will occur between 10 pm and 7 am during this period. The Yellow Line links Samaypur Badli in Delhi with Millennium City Centre Gurugram in Haryana. The DelhiMetro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said in a post on X, "Train movement between Samaypur Badli and Jahangir Puri on the Yellow Line shall be done via single line from 10 pm till end of revenue services and from start of revenue services till 7 am with effect from Thursday (18.4.2024) for a period of four months for execution of Phase-IV work of the Magenta Line extension."

India is prepared to take adequate steps to mitigate any impact of the Iran-Israel conflict on its economy and will «remain alert», Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Thursday. «Can't say that we are fully ready. As developments unfold, we are preparing to take adequate steps in India's interests,» Sitharaman told the CNBC Awaaz news channel in an interview. The conflict has not yet significantly impacted global oil prices. However, any escalation of tension in the oil-rich middle east could raise India's oil import bill. India is the world's third biggest oil importer, and ships in about 85% of its oil needs from overseas.

Zomato Ltd. traded 0.74 per cent down at Rs 185.35 on Thursday at around 01:59PM (IST), while the benchmark BSE Sensex declined 93.19 points to 72850.49. As many as 2,743,929 shares changed hands on the counter with a total value of Rs 50.76 crore.

DLF Ltd. rose 0.71 per cent to Rs 870.0 in Thursday's trade. It hit an intraday high of Rs 888.2 and low of Rs 865.85, respectively, during the day. The stock quoted a 52-week high price of Rs 967.0 and low of Rs 402.0.

Uttar Pradesh Congress state co-coordinator Vikas Agrahari on Thursday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the presence of Union Minister and BJP candidate from Amethi Lok Sabha Constituency, Smriti Irani. BJP's Amethi district president Ram Prasad Mishra was also present on the occasion. The joining comes even as the Congress is yet to name a candidate for the seat. While the BJP has announced that Irwill seek re-election from Amethi. Smriti Irani defeated Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Amethi, a Nehru-Gandhi family stronghold, in one of the biggest upsets of the polls. Congress has however announced that Gandhi will again contest from the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat, a seat he won in the 2019 General elections.

Lok Sabha elections will be held tomorrow in several states. In total, 102 Lok Sabha seats across 21 states and Union territories will go to the polls in the first phase on April 19. Polling will be held in all seats of Tamil Nadu (39), Uttarakhand (5), Arunachal Pradesh (2), Meghalaya (2), Andaman and Nicobar Islands (1), Mizoram (1), Nagaland (1), Puducherry (1), Sikkim (1), and Lakshadweep (1). Besides, there will be voting in 12 seats in Rajasthan, 8 in Uttar Pradesh, 6 in Madhya Pradesh, 5 seats each in Assam and Maharashtra, 4 in Bihar, 3 in West Bengal, 2 in Manipur, and one seat each in Tripura, Jammu and Kashmir, and Chhattisgarh. In 2019, the UPA had won 45 of these 102 seats, and the NDA 41. Six of these seats have been redrawn as part of the delimitation exercise.

West Bengal government on Thursday preponed the summer vacation of state-run and aided schools from April 22 in view of the prevailing heatwave conditions. A notification issued by the School Education Department on Thursday said apart from pupils, the teaching and non-teaching staff of the schools will be on leave during the period but subject to the direction of election authorities concerned in view of ensuing Lok Sabha elections. «Considering the prevailing heatwave situation, the competent authority has decided to prepone the summer vacation in the schools under your administrative jurisdiction with effect from April 22 except for schools in hill areas of Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts, wherein the existing academic schedule may continue until further order,» the notice issued by School Education Secretary to the presidents of primary education and secondary boards said. Earlier in view of the ensuing elections and keeping in mind many schools in northern parts of Bengal have already been turned into camps of security forces as also booths, the summer vacation had been scheduled from May 6.

The stock climbed 12.97 per cent to Rs 1,010 — its 52-week high — on the BSE. On the NSE, it jumped 13.34 per cent to hit the 52-week high of Rs 1,010.

MphasiS Ltd. gained 2.03 per cent to Rs 2355.5 in Thursday's trade. It hit a high of Rs 2360.3 and low of Rs 2319.0 during the session. On the technical charts, the 200-DMA of the stock stood at Rs 2408.38, while the 50-DMA was at Rs 2531.52. If a stock trades above 50-DMA and 200-DMA, it usually means the immediate trend is upward. On the other hand, if the stock trades below 50-DMA and 200-DMA, it is considered a bearish trend and if trades between these averages, then it suggests the stock can go either way.

Vodafone Idea share price jumped over 4% prior to the launch of its follow-on public offer (FPO) today. On Tuesday, April 16, Vodafone Idea garnered around ₹5,400 crore through its follow-on public offering, which was backed by anchor investors such as GQG Partners, UBS Fund Management, Jupiter Fund Management, Fidelity Investments, and Australian Super.

MUMBAI: IIFL Finance plans to raise 1,272 crore through a rights issue, at 300 per share, offering a near-30% discount to the market price. The issue opens April 30 and ends May 14. IIFL Finance shareholders will get one share for every nine they hold. This move comes after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) banned IIFL Finance from issuing gold loans in March.
