Allied Blenders & Distillers (ABD), which is planning to go public with a Rs 2,000-crore issue, has hired Alok Gupta as its new managing director and chief executive.
Gupta comes from Essar Capital, where he was a partner leading its technology and services vertical. He has over three decades of experience at consumer companies, including Dabur, United Spirits and Cafe Coffee Day.
Shekhar Ramamurthy, former MD at United Breweries, will continue to be on the board as the executive deputy chairman.
ABD's portfolio includes one of the world's biggest-selling whiskey Officer's Choice, Jolly Roger Rum and Kyron brandy.
