IMD) has forecasted cloudy skies with light rain and thunderstorms in the Red Fort area during the morning and forenoon of India’s 78th Independence Day on Thursday, August 15. A few spells of light rain are also expected during the afternoon and night. The maximum temperature is predicted to range between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be between 25 and 27 degrees Celsius.

IMD has also issued a nowcast valid for the next three hours, indicating no rain in the area, with generally cloudy skies and temperatures ranging between 30 and 32 degrees Celsius.
These weather predictions coincide with the nation’s preparations for the 78th Independence Day celebrations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hoist the national flag at the Red Fort and deliver his 11th consecutive speech to the nation from the historic monument.
According to the IMD, “A few spells of light rain can also be witnessed during the afternoon and night hours today on Thursday.”
Preparations are in full swing at the Red Fort in New Delhi for the event.
The celebrations will be observed across the country, from Srinagar and Ladakh to the national capital, as the nation comes together to mark its independence on August 15.
