Vishweshwar Reddy, the BJP candidate from Chevella Lok Sabha constituency in Telangana, has surfaced as one of the wealthiest contestants in the state. His family assets, disclosed in an affidavit submitted to the election authorities, total a staggering Rs 4568 crore. Reddy submitted his nomination on Monday, revealing details of his movable and immovable assets, and liabilities. The politician possesses 17.77 lakh shares of Apollo Hospital Enterprises Ltd valued at Rs 973.22 crore, while his wife Sangita Reddy holds 24.32 lakh shares worth Rs 1500.85 crore.
Sangita Reddy, who serves as the Joint Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals Group, established by her father Dr C Prathap Reddy, boasts assets worth Rs 3209.41 crore. Reddy himself holds assets amounting to Rs 1250 crore, with the remainder being owned by their son.
Reddy, who started his political journey with BRS (then TRS), was elected as an MP from Chevella. After a stint with the Congress and an unsuccessful bid in the 2019 general elections, he eventually joined the BJP. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Madras and pursued a Master's degree in the US.
