Russia has vowed to pause its military operation at the huge steel works in Mariupol for three days from Thursday morning to allow civilians to leave.
The plant, a "symbol of resistance" says Ukraine's government, is surrounded by Russian troops and reportedly came under renewed fire on Wednesday.
