Maharashtra assembly polls, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday said the state needs a government which is on the same page as the Centre. Addressing a press conference in Mumbai, Jaishankar also said India is a leader in fighting terrorism and has zero tolerance for it. «Maharashtra is a leading state in industry technology and infrastructure. Viksit Maharashtra is important for achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat,» the BJP MP said. «Maharashtra needs a government which is on the same page as the Centre,» he said.

institutional arbitration and reduce court intervention in such cases, the government has come out with a draft bill seeking views on the proposed amendments. The Department of Legal Affairs in the law ministry has invited comments on the draft Arbitration and Conciliation (Amendment) Bill, 2024, saying «the aim and purpose is to provide further boost to institutional arbitration, reduce court intervention in arbitrations and ensuring timely conclusion of arbitration proceedings». The draft bill comes months after an expert committee headed by former law secretary and former Lok Sabha secretary general T K Vishwanathan submitted its report on proposed reforms in the arbitration sector to the law ministry. The draft bill proposes the concept of 'emergency arbitration'.

Moreover, with the setting of more NABL-accredited laboratories by different leaders of FSSAI, the credibility of the testing process has also increased, said Narayanan, who led Nestle India after the Maggi crisis, which unfolded almost a decade back. In June 2015, FSSAI banned Maggi noodles for allegedly containing lead beyond permissible limits, forcing the company to withdraw the product from the market. Industry observers opine that only after the Maggi crisis did the FSSAI come into the limelight across the country though it was established almost seven years ago, in September 2008, to lay down science-based standards for food articles and rules and regulations.

Kerala government on Sunday continued to express its displeasure over the delay in central assistance to landslide-hit Wayanad and said the union government was yet to announce the category in which the disaster is classified. Revenue Minister K Rajan said 100 days have passed since the massive landslides rocked the hamlets of Wayanad, but the state was yet to receive any assistance from the union government for its rehabilitation. The «negative approach» adopted by the Centre in terms of the rehabilitation of Wayanad was 'painful' for the state, he told reporters here. The state government has raised demands for central assistance several times.

Assam Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday approved the proposal to increase the Dearness Allowance (DA) for the state government employees by three per cent from the current 50 per cent to 53 per cent of their basic salary. The increase in the DA will be retroactively effective from July this year, Chief Minister Sarma announced in the press conference. The employees will receive their DA arrears starting from December to March, with the government providing 25 per cent of the amount each month.

Where does this money go? Did the money go to people or Trinamool Congress.” Shah hit out at INDIA Alliance as well during his speech. He also assured that “Achhe Din” will come to Bengal after counting of 2026 assembly polls is completed and BJP comes to power. “Peace will come once infiltration stops. Partnership with neighbouring countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar in terms of business and cultural aspects will be enhanced. In terms of progress, several initiatives can be possible,” Shah said as he inaugurated the Passenger Terminal Building and Maitri Dwar at Land Port in Bengal's Petrapole today.

During a special check, a team found a suspicious object in a market,» Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Devesh Kumar Mahla said. The device, which is acting like a mobile network jamming device, was immediately seized, he said.
