Creator of the world's most controversial app and father of 100 kids; all about Pavel Durov the Russian Mark Zuckerberg
Pavel Durov's Telegram application. Before the app adopted a more assertive stance against content associated with terrorism, especially after the fatal terror attack on London Bridge in 2019, Islamic State groups were using it as their preferred platform. Experts caution that propaganda still thrives there. Some hail the billionaire co-founder of Telegram, the ultra-secure messaging app with over 900 million users, as an anti-authoritarian hero and free speech advocate who bravely faced down Vladimir Putin. Others view him as a dishonest and careless tech magnate who has built a system that allows illegal activity to go unpunished. It appears that French authorities belong to the latter group. Durov was detained on Saturday upon his arrival at Le Bourget airport, which is close to Paris, following his private jet journey from Baku, Azerbaijan. Pavel Durov, detained in France, has nothing to hide, Telegram says
Pavel Durov, the Russian-born founder of Telegram who was arrested in Paris, has nothing to hide it is absurd to hold an owner responsible for abuse of the messaging and social media platform, Telegram said in a statement. Durov, a 39-year-old billionaire cast as "Russia's Mark Zuckerberg", was arrested at Le Bourget airport outside Paris shortly after landing on a private jet late on Saturday from Azerbaijan. The arrest of the Telegram CEO prompted a warning from Moscow to Paris that he should be accorded his rights, and criticism from X owner Elon Musk who said that free speech in Europe was under attack.

Telegram’s Pavel Durov made a ‘miscalculation’ fleeing Russia, says Kremlin
Medvedev on Sunday claimed that Pavel Durov, founder of the Telegram messaging app, «miscalculated» by fleeing Russia. Durov was arrested on Saturday at Paris Le Bourget airport in France for offences related to the app and failing to address its criminal use, and appeared in court on Sunday. Medvedev, now deputy head of Russia's Security Council, asserted Durov's belief he could avoid cooperating with security services abroad was mistaken. Medvedev mentioned a past conversation with Durov where he warned him that refusing to cooperate with law enforcement would cause problems in any country. Despite this, Durov, who holds multiple citizenships, left Russia in 2014 after refusing to comply with government orders to shut down opposition groups on his previous social media platform, VKontakte. «He miscalculated,» Medvedev stated. “For all our common enemies now, he is Russian – and therefore unpredictable and dangerous.” Medvedev added, «Durov should finally realise that one cannot choose one's fatherland.»

Rich nations should provide climate finance to developing countries: Bhupender Yadav
carbon emissions should come forward and own the responsibility of providing finance to developing countries to address the climate crisis, Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav said on Friday. Climate finance will be at the centre of the UN climate conference in Baku, Azerbaijan, where the world will reach the deadline to agree on the New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG) — the new amount developed nations must mobilise every year starting in 2025 to support climate action in developing countries. «Temperature rise is a global problem. IPCC reports clearly say the increase in carbon emissions is driving average global temperatures up. Countries have prepared their Nationally Determined Contributions. India has achieved its climate targets, be it in the renewable energy sector or reducing carbon emissions,» Yadav said at the India Climate Summit. «Developed countries are required to provide finance and technological support to developing countries if we need equal growth in the world. Unfortunately, this could not happen but the New Collective Quantified Goal will be the central point of the COP29 in Baku. Countries historically responsible for maximum carbon emissions should come forward,» he said.

The INSTC is a 7,200-km network of ship, rail, and road routes being developed to move freight between India, Iran, Azerbaijan, Russia, Central Asia and Europe.
