UK launches review to provide working definition of Islamophobia
UK has launched a new review led by a former Opposition Conservative Party minister into anti-Muslim hate to provide the Labour Party government with a working definition of Islamophobia. Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner said on Friday that former attorney general Dominic Grieve will bring his years of legal and government expertise to the role, which will also support a wider stream of work to tackle the «unacceptable incidents» of anti-Muslim hate crimes hitting the highest number on record in 2024. The new working group has been tasked to deliver a definition of anti-Muslim hatred, referred to as Islamophobia, within six months. «The rise in anti-Muslim hate crime is unacceptable and has no place in our society,» said Rayner, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).

David Rosenberg: It may not seem obvious today, but Trump has done Canada a big favour when it comes to the future
The United States sends tremendous support to its allies around the world, but the payback has typically been a more stable world — it doesn’t always work, mind you, as we have seen these past three years. But no country benefits more from a tranquil world than the U.S.

US to get its official language soon? Trump's next big move revealed
Donald Trump will sign an executive order that would for the first time make English the official language of the US, Washington Post reported citing White House officials. However, at what time Trump would sign the order is yet to be revealed. The United States has never had an official language at the federal level but the issue has been problematic for certain states. Hundreds of languages are spoken in the U.S., the byproduct of the country’s long history of taking in immigrants from around the world. Zelensky, Trump to sign minerals deal at White House
Donald Trump branded Volodymyr Zelensky a dictator. On Friday he will host the Ukrainian president at the White House and sign a deal granting Washington access to Ukraine's rare minerals. The extraordinary turnaround caps a week of frantic international diplomacy centered on Washington, as Kyiv seeks to shore up support despite Trump's recent pivot towards Russia. Trump upended years of US policy on Ukraine two weeks ago when he spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin and started talks on ending the three-year-old war — without Kyiv.
