Iran rejects G7 calls to stop supporting Hamas
Iran on Thursday rejected a G7 statement which called on Tehran to stop supporting Hamas militants and taking actions that «destabilise» the Middle East. Tehran's comment came a day after foreign ministers from the G7 group of advanced economies, meeting in Tokyo, expressed support for «humanitarian pauses and corridors» in the Israeli-Hamas war. Israeli air strikes have pounded the Palestinian territory of Gaza since Hamas gunmen stormed across the heavily militarised border on October 7 to kill more than 1,400 people, most of them civilians, and seize around 240 hostages, according to Israeli officials. The subsequent Israeli bombing campaign in Gaza has killed more than 10,500 people, two-thirds of them women and children, according to the Hamas-run health ministry. The G7 also called on Iran to «refrain from providing support for Hamas and taking further actions that destabilise the Middle East, including support for Lebanese Hezbollah and other non-state actors.» On Thursday, Iran's foreign ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani «strongly condemned» the statement by the group which includes the United States, Britain, Germany, Canada, Italy, France, and Japan. He said Iran has engaged in «non-stop efforts to stop military attacks of the Zionist aggressor regime (Israel) on the defenceless citizens» in Gaza.

If Nitish was wrong, get NCERT books changed too: JD(U) ministers
Nitish Kumar's JD(U) on Thursday reached the state legislature armed with copies of NCERT books to defend their leader who is in the eye of a storm over use of crudely graphic language in both Houses. A day after Kumar apologized in assembly and legislative council, as also in front of journalists, ministers Leshi Singh, Sheela Mandal and Ashok Chaudhary seemed to have decided that they have had enough. Singh, who vehemently denies having «hung her head in shame», according to the BJP, upon hearing the CM's words inside the legislative council on Tuesday, told reporters «It is all a diversionary tactics of the opposition party which is rattled by our leader's historic moves like caste survey and a hike in quotas for SCs, STs and the backward classes».

Ireland waives off English test requirement for foreign nurses
Ireland has taken a big step to ease the immigration process for nurses, a critical job in the country. In response to a substantial visa backlog, the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland has announced a «one-off» extension of the validity of English tests for these nurses, extending the period for three months. This decision was prompted by the challenging situation faced by nearly 1,000 nurses from abroad. They were at risk of their completed English tests expiring before they could secure their visas to practice in Ireland. Think you check all the immigration boxes? Find out Nurses moving to Ireland for work in thehealthcare system from foreign countries are required to submit a completed English test as part of their visa application, in line with the standard practice in the country. This problem had previously emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic due to travel restrictions, which prevented applicants from traveling to Ireland to renew their tests or take necessary actions, leading to test expiration issues. “On recognition of the delays caused beyond the control of the applicants, NMBI decided to offer a once-off extension to nurses and midwives impacted by visa delays,” an NMBI spokesperson told The PIE. The delays in visa processing also led to visa rejections from the Department of Justice for some nurses, compounding the problem. The NMBI is currently working to process the existing backlog of applications that arose due to these visa delays attributed to issues within the Department of Justice, as stated by their spokesperson.

Sunny Agrawal, Head of Fundamental Equity Research, SBI Securities, “for FY23, Mrs Bector’s has reported net sales of around Rs 1,362 crore and net profit of Rs 90 crore. Our estimate suggests that sales are likely to expand from Rs 1,362 crore in FY23 to Rs 1,891 crore, almost Rs 1,900 crore in FY25 and net profit of Rs 90 crore from FY23 to Rs 167 crore in FY25. ” Just going through some of the buy calls that you are issuing out. I just wanted to get a sense of names like Mrs Bectors Food right now. I have picked up this one because you have already seen a massive rally in the stock year to date. How much more of an upside do you think the stock can garner on a 12-month basis? And what makes you so bullish on this story? My price target for Mrs Bectors Food is around Rs 1358. As we all know, Mrs Bectors Food is one of the leading players in the biscuit and bakery category in North India. Their biscuit brand is Cremica and on bakery side, English Oven is the brand which they are riding the rally on.

Kate Middleton wears full camouflage, drives armored vehicle as she takes on new military role
The Queen's Dragoon Guards Regiment as their colonel in chief on Wednesday. Earlier in the year, King Charles appointed Kate with the additional royal titles of commodore-in-chief of the Fleet Air Arm and the royal honorary air commodore of Royal Air Force Coningsby. The regiment, known as The Welsh Cavalry, holds a distinguished place in the British Army's Royal Armoured Corps and stands as the senior regiment of the British Army's lineage. Originating in 1959 from the merger of two dragoon guards units, the regiment boasts a storied history, having played active roles in various conflicts, including the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. During her visit, Princess Kate engaged with the regiment's senior officers and had the opportunity to observe service operations. Clad in full camouflage attire, she tested her hand at driving an armored vehicle, drone, and high mobility weapons platform. In addition to her interactions with personnel and their families, Kate commemorated the sacrifice of members lost in active service, just ahead of the Commonwealth's Remembrance Day.
