T20 World Cup squad: Spin-friendly pitches in Americas? India opts for 4 spinners vs 3 pacers
Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced India's 15-member squad for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, to be held in the West Indies and USA from June 1. Rohit Sharma will lead, with Hardik Pandya as deputy. Sanju Samson will support Pant as the second wicketkeeper-batsman… Pant returns after 16 months post a car crash in 2022. India opted for four spinners — Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Yuzvendra Chahal. The pace attack, led by Jasprit Bumrah, features Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj. Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube offer seam-bowling options. Sanju Samson secured a spot, while KL Rahul and Rinku Singh missed out. Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed, and Avesh Khan are named reserves. India's campaign begins against Ireland on June 5 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York, followed by a highly anticipated clash against Pakistan on June 9. They will also face USA and Canada on June 12 and 15 respectively. India, placed in Group A with Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, and co-hosts USA, aims for a strong start against Ireland before the crucial match against Pakistan.

Canada will not be renewing this off-campus work policy for international students
international students in Canada will face a new limit on off-campus work hours during the academic year. Immigration Minister Marc Miller announced that temporary measures allowing international students to work unlimited hours while class is in session will not be renewed. “Working off campus helps international students gain work experience and offset some of their expenses. As international students arrive in Canada, we want them to be prepared for life here and have the support they need to succeed. However, first and foremost, people coming to Canada as students must be here to study, not work. We will continue working to protect the integrity of our student program,” Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, said. Want to know if you qualify for immigration? Click here In October 2022, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) had temporarily allowed international students with off-campus work authorization on their study permits to work more than 20 hours per week while attending classes. 'Longing for some rest': Young chess prodigy reflects on exhausting victory
Dommaraju Gukesh is tired. After three weeks of gruelling chess that ended in him becoming the youngest ever Candidates champion, all he wants to do is rest. But ever since he returned home after winning the Candidates – the second most-important chess tournament after the World Championship – celebrations haven’t stopped. Dutifully, he has done everything asked of him with a smile and not said no to anyone. Gukesh took some time out of his busy schedule to speak with BORIA MAJUMDAR. Excerpts You are the Candidates champion at the age of 17. The youngest ever to win the tournament. Has that sunk in yet? Not really. We are longing for some rest and for things to settle down. Once that happens, I think the realisation will sink in. I haven’t really had time to process things yet. When your father came running to give you the news, what was it like? Can you relive the moment once please? I was watching the Fabi-Nepo (Fabiano Caruana vs Ian Nepomniachtchi) match for a while and at one point I got really nervous. So, I stepped outside for a walk with (Polish grandmaster and Gukesh’s trainer Grzegorz) Gajewski. We were chatting when my father came running and said that I had won. It is difficult to describe the moment in words. We were laughing, hugging each other, screaming and doing all sorts of thing. It was the most beautiful moment in my three weeks in Toronto.

Foreign lands turn hunting ground for CXO search companies
Executive search firms say about 30-50% of their CXO searches in the last six to 18 months have been looking at potential global candidates, up from about 10-15% a few years ago. There is a preference for returning Indians fuelled by a push from companies and boards amid an increasing need for professionals with a keen knowledge and understanding of global markets. An acute demandsupply mismatch in the leadership talent market and the need to hire for specialist roles in high-tech manufacturing, automotive, electric vehicles (EVs), pharmaceuticals, chemicals, hardcore product engineering and services industries have underscored the trend, said experts. “About one in three leadership searches that we conduct today are global, not limited to India, reaching out to people in Singapore, US, Canada, London, and Middle East, showing the rising demand for the global talent pool of Indians,” said Puneet Pratap Singh, partner-in-charge at Heidrick & Struggles India.

Canadian wildfires are back again after creating havoc last summer. The fumes, smoke, and burning eyes and throat were a massive nightmare for US and Canadian residents during the last year. The orange skies and billowing smoke from densely forested terrains are hard to forget and it looks like the same will be back again this year, however, in what magnitude, is explained by wildlife experts, in a report by USA Today. According to the report, The 2023 Canadian wildfires were a record breaker causing widespread damage and fumes, that affected regions of the United States neighboring Canada.
