Man Extreme Discover Rhythm Research isolate testing Man lives like a 'timeless' caveman for experiment, discovers bizarre secret about the human mind
Michel Siffre undertook a radical self-experiment: to live in complete isolation inside a glacier cave in the Scarasson mountain in the Ligurian Alps—130 meters below the surface—for over two months. Inspired by the space race and the psychological challenges astronauts might face, Siffre aimed to understand how the human body perceives time in the absence of natural cues like sunlight or clocks. “This idea came to me—this idea that became the idea of my life,” Siffre later told Cabinet Magazine. “I decided to live like an animal, without a watch, in the dark, without knowing the time.”

Subscribe to enjoy similar stories.Srinagar: A prized forest delicacy among the world’s most expensive mushrooms is collapsing in the wild even as scientists in Kashmir say they may have found a way to cultivate it.Gucchi, or morel mushroom, has seen output fall sharply across Jammu and Kashmir—from around 2,000 quintals in 1991 to just 88 quintals in 2018—as erratic snowfall, shifting rainfall patterns and forest degradation disrupt the fragile ecological conditions it depends on.It is primarily found in the foothills and forested belts across districts including Poonch, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Anantnag, Bandipora, Kupwara and Pulwama. In Kashmir’s higher forests, collectors describe damp pine floors layered with decaying needles and logs—exactly the moisture-rich microhabitat where the mushroom once emerged reliably in spring. That seasonal rhythm, they say, has become increasingly erratic. At the same time, global competition is intensifying, with countries such as China advancing morel cultivation techniques and putting additional pressure on prices. Now, researchers at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST-K) say they have successfully standardized cultivation of Gucchi under controlled greenhouse and open-field conditions, a breakthrough in a species long considered nearly impossible to farm.“This is a game-changing breakthrough,” said SKUAST-K vice chancellor Nazir Ahmad Ganai.

Reflective canvases beckoned, time expanded and contracted, and the solitary viewer got drawn into the Yantra and Tantra, the yin and yang, and the madhya point of stillness so central to Trishla Jain’s artistic endeavour. ORDER IN CHAOS Jain’s initial works were colourful expressions of playful whimsy, but her latest canvases reveal a confident maturity, a meditative metamorphosis — a conscious progression to seeking deeper meanings. Which is why the period of calm, the emptiness before the formal opening of Jain’s exhibition was so central to understanding the language of her compositions, from the comforting structured grid patterns of Yantra to the unbound, infinitive universe of Tantra.

markets Ball security Strategy Rhythm PAM testing Virat Kohli continues to shine in Perth as he finally finds his rhythm
Virat Kohli on Sunday smashed a brilliant 50 in just 94 balls on the third day of the first Test in Perth, to continue India's lead against the mighty Australians. Kohli, who was out after scoring merely 5 runs in the first innings, appears to have found his rhythm or perhaps regained the much needed momentum in the second. He went on to smash three fours and a six in the innings and even built a strong sixth-wicket partnership with Washington Sundar. This half-ton marks Kohli's 32nd Test fifty, sixth against Australia and second in Perth and above anything else, it marks an end to his forgettable Test season thus far.

Travis Head on Monday backed Virat Kohli to «have his moments in the series» as the Indian superstar continued to dominate talks in the run-up to the five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy, starting here on Friday. Kohli's ordinary returns with the bat this year in Test cricket notwithstanding, the 36-year-old has been the cynosure of all eyes since the Indian team landed in Australia last week. Head threw his support behind the Indian batting mainstay, who managed a mere 93 runs across three Tests against New Zealand at a forgettable average of 15.50 in his last assignment at home just before the tour of Australia. «No doubt, we will go through all their players, cannot wait to start well against them. Virat's going to have his moments in this series, hopefully not too many of them,» Head told the media at the Optus Stadium after Australia's training session.

markets Rhythm Experts medicines Schools International Don't forget to "fall back" an hour! Daylight saving time ends this Sunday
Daylight saving time ends in the US at 2 am local time on Sunday, giving residents an extra hour of sleep. Clocks should be set back an hour before going to bed. This change will last until March 9, when daylight saving time resumes. Adjusting to the spring forward change can be harder on the body, with studies indicating an increase in heart attacks and strokes immediately after the change due to disruptions in the internal body clock. The fall back change is generally easier, but still requires some adjustment in sleep habits. The transition to shorter days can be challenging for people with seasonal affective disorder, a type of depression linked to reduced sunlight in fall and winter. Health groups, such as the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, suggest eliminating time switches and maintaining standard time for better alignment with human biology.
