Apple to launch Vision Pro in UK, Canada by end of 2024: Report
Vision Pro at Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2023, which marked Cupertino-based tech giant’s entry into a new product line in about 5 years. It will soon be available in the US. However, UK consumers will have to wait longer before they can get their hands on it, as per a Bloomberg report. It mentions Apple's plans to expand internationally by the end of 2024. The UK and Canada are identified as the “initial international markets,” with Europe and Asia following soon after. Nevertheless, the report clarifies that Apple has not made a final decision on this matter. The slow rollout can be attributed to various factors. Firstly, the product's untested nature and its whopping-high price tag of $3,500 make it one of Apple's most expensive consumer devices. Additionally, the logistics involved in selling the headset pose a challenge. Apple intends to offer a more personalized experience by requiring customers to schedule an appointment at one of its 270-plus US locations. During the appointment, customers' heads will be measured using a physical device or an iPhone app currently in development to ensure a perfect fit and optimal light blocking. Apple aims to provide a superior user experience for such a high-end product, but this approach limits its sales opportunities. Third-party distribution of Vision Pro is not planned until at least 2025.

Are best-before dates on food necessary? Some food charities say it’s time to reevaluate
best-before dates on their favourite foods. And now, there is a call on the government to reevaluate whether best-before dates on foods are even necessary.John Bailey, the CEO of the Regina Food Bank, said best-before dates are often intertwined with expiry dates, but the two are very different.“The idea of a best-before date is about peak freshness and quality control,” Bailey explained. “(With) expiry dates, once it is surpassed, you start to run into potential issues with contamination and the food not being healthy.Bailey said with best-before dates, depending on the food, there is a large grace period when foods are actually okay to eat.“Anywhere from a few weeks to several months to even a year or so beyond is when you can still sort of safely … enjoy the food that is past the best-before date.”For items such as dairy, produce and meat, however, the food can quickly go downhill after the best-before date.
