Why Congress can’t claw back war powers from Trump
Subscribe to enjoy similar stories. WASHINGTON—In a dizzying three weeks on the world stage, President Trump deposed Venezuela’s leader, threatened its neighbors with military action, raised the specter of new strikes on Iran and ignited—then tamped down—a diplomatic crisis with Europe over his efforts to acquire Greenland. At each fresh turn, Congress has found itself scrambling to keep up, sparking new debates among lawmakers about how to claw back constitutional powers from the presidency over matters of foreign policy in the Trump era.

Novo Nordisk inks $2-billion obesity drug deal with United Labs
Novo Nordisk A/S agreed to pay United Laboratories International Holdings as much as $2 billion for a next-generation obesity drug, the Danish Ozempic maker's latest move to refill its pipeline of experimental treatments. Novo will pay Hong Kong-based United Laboratories $200 million upfront for the drug, which combines three different mechanisms in an effort to treat obesity as well as diabetes and other diseases, the companies said Monday. Novo agreed to pay as much as $1.8 billion if the drug reaches certain development and sales goals. The deal comes amid growing skepticism from investors that Novo's next-generation portfolio will be sufficient to keep it on top of the hypercompetitive market for weight loss treatments. German software developer SAP SE unseated Novo as Europe's most valuable public company on Monday. Novo's shares traded down as much as 3.1% in Copenhagen. United Laboratories will retain rights in China for its compound, which works in a similar way to Novo rival Eli Lilly & Co.'s retatrutide — considered the strongest among the next-generation drugs currently in late-stage human trials.

Is Trump's interest in Greenland driving unprecedented tourist influx?
Greenland's glittering blue icebergs, says his bank has told him to expand ahead of an expected influx of tourists after US President Donald Trump put the island in the global spotlight. Trump's comments, coupled with the opening of a new international airport in the capital Nuuk, have already boosted arrivals and more are expected. «Already now, we are getting many more bookings than we have received earlier, especially because of a man with the last name of Trump. He has really put Greenland on the map once again,» Knudsen-Ostermann, operator of Greenland Cruises, said, standing on the dock of an ice-packed harbour. Greenland became the focus of international attention in January when Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., arrived at the newly opened Nuuk airport. Since then, the U.S. president has doubled down on his pledge to make the Arctic island part of the United States, as he eyes its vast wealth of rare earth minerals critical for high-tech industries.

Maersk raises guidance again as Red Sea attacks boost rates
global trade, increased its full-year guidance for a fourth time in less than six months, citing stronger demand and higher freight rates caused by supply chain disruptions from attacks in the Red Sea. Maersk now sees underlying earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation of $11 billion to $11.5 billion this year, topping both its prior forecast range and the average $10.1 billion estimate of analysts surveyed by Bloomberg. Maersk had already raised its 2024 profit forecast in May, June and August, as the Red Sea conflict was having a larger than previously expected impact on the world’s supply lines. The Houthi attacks have since late last year forced container vessels to sail south of Africa, absorbing some of the overcapacity in the container industry, which in turn has helped boost container rates.
