
After Canada, it's now Denmark's turn: Danes boycott American products, ban Netflix and Californian wine
Why are Danes boycotting American products?
Fuming over US President Donald Trump's tough policy regarding Greenland, numerous Danes are replacing American brand names with European ones. From groceries to entertainment, the boycott is rapidly picking up steam.
In an attempt to purge her pantry of all American goods, retired psychologist Mette Vennegaard, who lived north of Copenhagen, wrote to Toms Group, Denmark's biggest candy and chocolate manufacturer, to inquire about the source of the almonds used in the company's well-known marzipan products, as quoted in a report by CBC.
A common filling in chocolate and an essential component of some of Denmark's most cherished desserts is marzipan, a sweet paste made from ground almonds.

When the business responded that it sourced its supply from California, which produces 80% of the world's almonds, Vennegaard added the item to her «do not buy list.»
She went even further, posting the company's letter in a Facebook group and advising other Danes to avoid it as well.
«I look into who owns a lot of different products,» she said to CBC News. «If they are American, they do not go in the shopping basket.»
